Horrible evening in the ER

Last night was exhausting.
Late in the afternoon I could feel this horrible pain starting again at the top of my abdomen and back, and knew immediately that it was another gallbladder attack. I took some pain meds and hoped it would go away without me needing to go to the ER. Well...it didn´t. It just kept getting worse and worse until my DH finally told me that I would either go with him in the car to the ER or he would call an ambulance. I agreed on driving there ourselves.

While I was getting dressed and ready to go we heard horrible screams coming from out in the street. My 5 year old DD had fallen of her bike and straight onto her face. She started swelling immediately and was obviously in a lot of pain. We rushed her into the car and headed for the ER. You can imagine the surprise of the nurses when they saw us both coming in but for completely different reasons.

My daughter was sent right off for a CT scan of her head to rule out bleeding and/ or swelling of the brain. I stayed behind while the docs did some bloodwork on me and gave me morphine to manage the pain. I HATED not being able to go with my DD, but was very glad that at least DH was there.

This is what she looked like this morning, and the swelling is still getting worse.

POOR THING!!! Get some bags of frozen peas and use them as an ice pack. It will be more comfortable than a bag of ice and she will think it is funny to use the peas on her face. I hope you are feeling better too.

Goodness! Poor baby...she must be so uncomfortable. Second the ice idea. Maybe a popsicle or some ice cream too!

Believe me. She´s getting all the ice cream and whatever she want :)
She can hardly eat anything anyway, so what ever she will eat she gets ;)

aw, poor little one.
But how are you feeling and why don't you get that gall bladder out.

Thanks everyone! We´re both sore but a lot better than yesterday. She is doing amazingly in my opinion.

I´m on a waiting list for the gall bladder surgery. I was originally told I would have to wait 3 months, but last night they said they would move me further up the waiting list.

you are kidding, you have to wait 3 months, I didn't wait 3 days from when they found out what was wrong. That is too painful to have to wait.
Hope DD is well, My DD5 decided to ride her bike down the stairs a few months ago and she landed face first onto our hardwood floorrs (she has severe ADHD and impulse issues) she lost three teeth but did not look as bad as your DD, I hope she feels better soon.

If you go to the hospital more often will they keep bumping you up on the list if so I would go everday.

We´re going on holiday on Friday and I really hope I won´t have another attack while I´m away. The doc prescribed me some strong pain meds but I hope I won´t have to use them.

I´m so sorry to hear your daughter lost her teeth. That was one of the things I was most worried about with my own DD, but luckily they were o.k.

OMG, what a day for you. I hope you get to have your surgery sooner than 3 months, that is crazy.

YOur poor baby, I see lots of treats in her future. AT least that is how I am.

Sure honey you can have chocolate and ice ream for dinner. lol

Sending out good thought and prayers for you both.

Oh no!! Your poor baby. I'm wincing just looking at her:eek:

I hope your gall bladder hold up on your vacation. Try to eat bland foods.

Your poor little girl! That picture breaks my heart.

I'm so sorry for YOU too! I had to wait two weeks to get my gallbladder out (one of them at WDW) and it was awful. I can't imagine three months! I was living on dry cereal. I hope you can go sooner.

You can get pancreatitis from an untreated gallbladder problem. I had attacks while I was pregnant, and did wait 3 months to get mine out (because I was pregnant!) Misery. Try to push to get it out, it's really not risk-free to leave it in there!

Your poor daughter looks like a prizefighter...at least you know she will heal. Rest & ice!

Good luck!

OMG, poor baby and poor you! What an ordeal! I hope you get your surgery soon and that your DD's face heals quickly.

I read part of your blog and then voted for you! I hope you win. Good luck!!!
