Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which would be better for a group of 5 girls? Marriott Horizons or the Grande Vista. We got great rates on both and have each on hold. We have been to neither, so we are a bit torn as to which to choose. Thanks for any help :wave2:

I've never been to either but have researched both heavily. How old are the "girls"? One of the big draws for Horizons seems to be they have this great pirate ship themed pool area for younger kids. It's also newer. I believe the second bedroom is larger, having 2 queen beds.

I think GV has a second bedroom set up like Cypress Harbor, where we have stayed. It was on the smallish side with one double and one pull out couch at sort of an awkward angle in the room. Havng said that, Grand Vista looks quite beautiful and has an excellent reputation. I don't think you could go wrong with either resort as the Marriots are all very nice. With the exception of that second bedroom setup, we really enjoyed Cypress Harbor. I'm sure someone who has been to both can shed some more light.

We stayed at Cypress Harbor earlier this year and toured Horizon's as part of our presentation. It is a nice, new resort. If you have younger children with you I would recommend it. However, there are some downsides.
1) It is close to Rt 4 so you can hear and see the highway. GV doesn't have this problem.
2) The 2 bedroom units were definately on the smaller size. Our CH unit was much bigger.
3) Construction - They are still working on Horizons although i saw the Mini-golf recently opened.
Again, if you have younger children with you then go with Horizons (assuming you will spend time at the resort), otherwise, go with the Grande Vista.

Thanks for your reply :) I should have made myself more clear...the girls are all in their 30's! LOL It's a girls weekend! I also think they both look beautiful and that is why we are having a hard time making a decision.

Thanks for your input :) I believe we are leaning towards the GV. One of the girls in my group found it for $143 and I am thinking that is a great deal!

Ha! I had a feeling!! I'd go with Grand Vista. Post a report when you get back and have a great time!!

To those of you who have stayed at Cypress Harbour, how comfortable were the pull out beds? It will probably be our 8 and 6 year old sleeping on one of them. Also any other information you have on this resort would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tracy

This resort was really very nice. However, we were not crazy about that second bedroom setup and our kids liked it even less. We didn't use the pullout in the livingroom but we did use the one in the bedroom. Both girls age 10 & 12 said it was uncomfortable. I'm not sure it would matter much to a 6 year old. The bed in there is a double so they could both sleep in it if they wanted. It was a tight room. The master was huge, I'm not sure why they did it like this. When you pull out the couch, you kind of have to hop over the ends of both beds to get across the room. Also, if the kids want to watch TV while they are laying in bed, they both can't see it at the angle the beds are laid out.

Having said all this, it's really pretty minor compared to the rest of the resort. I think our girls got a little spoiled the year before when we stayed at the Vistana and they had a huge room with 2 double beds. We would stay again at Cypress Harbour in a second. In fact, we may stay there again in Feb as they are one of the very few resorts that offer a Thurs checkin. It's really a great family resort. You'll enjoy it.

King Size Bed in the master, 2 doubles in the guest, 1 pullout couch.

Putt Putt is really neat. The holes are changed on a regular basis. GREAT bartenders ::yes:: .... tell Dan, Matt & Rafo I said Hi

Since this is a resort geared to families w/ young children GV might be better for them.

Thanks Judy! We decided on Horizons and will arrive on Thursday:hyper:
Hmmm are those 3 bartenders easy on the eyes? LOL :smooth:

Hi Plutosfriend!

Do you know what room rate you got for the 2 bedroom Horizons and where you got it?
We have a 2 bedroom suite on hold there for 10/29 and am currently looking around to see what deals are available. I hadn't found anything better than the $168 plus tax on the Marriott website.
I've found a couple other properites but the suites don't seem as nice...I like that the Horizons has the two Queen size in the second bedroom. MUCH better than a pullout and even better than a double for adults especially.

Thanks!!
Jill

Grande Vista - there second bedroom (studio) is big - very big - a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa.

the two bedroom are pretty nice!

make sure you get either a new building or one that has been redone in the last year.

this is a beautiful resort.

CH wins the popularity contest. lots of people (on tug) seem to love it!

One of the girls in my group found the rate of $143 a while back for the GV 2 bedroom. I think she found it right on the Marriott site. What luck, huh? She is a Marriott Rewards Member, so not sure if that helped her price in some way.
