Just going over ticket options. Booked a package w/ dining. Bought everyone 1 day ticket because I have an annual pass. Need to add days upon arrival to kids tickets.
Looking at my plans - it looks like we will only hop 1 time. I was going to get hoppers, BUT, now I'm thinking Base ticket with 1 day more than planned- for the day we hop. Once you get up to 7 or 8 days the difference is only a couple of dollars.
Will this work, if we go to one park in the AM and another in the PM with a base ticket will they just charge the ticket another day(which is wat I'd want) or would it just not work?

Does this make sense? Anyone thought of or done this?
Tammy
What else would I be doing at 12:30am while my family sleeps???

won't work you can't use more than one day of a ticket per day. Does that make sense?

Not the answer I was hoping for, but yea it makes sense. Well it makes sense in an I understand what you are saying kinda way, not in an I understand why they wouldn't allow it kinda way. If I want to burn 2 ticket days in 1 day, why would it bother them....Oh, right, I could/should just pay for the hopper option.
Paying the extra $ for the hopper isn't such a big deal. I'm just broken hearted that I didn't REALLY just discover an undiscovered secret trick.

If Disney charged the same amount PER DAY, EVERY DAY, on multi-day tix, then of course they wouldn't mind you using TWO FULL ADMISSIONS in one day. (You'd be nuts... but hey.)

But they do make a special LOW PRICE deal (just a few dollars) if you add DAYS to your ticket... that price is MUCH lower so that you WILL STAY the EXTRA DAY(s).

Why would they offer a low price for you to STAY extra days, if you DON'T stay the extra days (by using the extra low cost "ticket" in another park the same day?)
That's why they do not allow you to hop using non-hopper tix.

Oh, trust us - you're NOT the first person who thought of it :teeth:
Similar questions pop up here at least a couple of times a week - and if DISers have figured out a way around the system, it's only natural to figure Disney has ALSO thought of it and (if it cuts down on revenues) worked out a way to prevent it :)

I'm sad to hear this. I was planning on letting my two DD's do this one day during our trip. I do understand Disney's reasoning on it though. Oh well, at least I found out here rather than in line at the parks. Thanks.

It's not that it bothers them. Their computers simply aren't programmed to handle the tickets that way.

Their computers work on a 24 hour kind of system. Each day is just that - a day. The computers simply don't know how to process pulling the next day off of your ticket when you've already used one.

Hope that makes sense. :)

Funny thing is - getting me to stay the extra days is no problem. This is a 10 day trip I'm planning for.

Just when I (and my family) think I'm on the Dis boards to much, something gets by me....

Thanks,

YES YOU CAN DO THIS---You can use "extra" days to hop. My parents went with me and my family in December 2005 and they did just that. We had annual passes and they bought 10 day tickets. We were only there for 7 days, but they were able to hop with us on 3 of the days because they just used one of their ticket "days". I have another friend who successfully did this same thing last October also. Good Luck!

If they did, they are the first to do it; everyone else has reported/observed that it DOES NOT WORK!

Maybe they are, but I witnessed it with my own eyes. My Dad was trying to save $$ so he bought 10 day passes rather than 7. They hopped with us by using their extra "days". This was in December 2005 the week of the 12th. Htere was no problem at all at the turnstills going in. They just scanned their tickets in and off they went. This was after they had already been at anbaother park that day and they did not have park hoppers.

The reason is once you get beyond a certain amount of days, then it's $2 for an extra day or some very small amount. They sell the hopper feature for $40. Hence, would anyone pay $40 when they could just add days at $2 and accomplish the same thing? Hence why they don't allow it.

But note if you get the plus pack and want to attend Typhoon lagoon in the morning, then go to Epcot for the evening, you can do so. It will use a plus for the water park and one of your main park days for Epcot.

Sorry, its simply not allowed.

If Disney happened to have a computer glitch or other "odd" occurrence... then ANYTHING is possible.
But otherwise it is forbidden by the system.

I'm not trying to start an "argument" but I can't let this kind of info go unchallenged.
Its a disservice to others here.

I am certainly not trying to cause a disservice to anyone. I am simply stating what I know to be true. Has anyone out there tried this prior to Decembr 2005 or after and know for an absolute fact that they were not allowed to do it? I know for a fact that my parents did it successfully. I think it may be a disservice to others to not let them know that it was allowed. My Dad ordered his tickets from the disnay website, 10 day passes and used more than one "day" in one day.

If it was a computer glitch, it allowed them to do it several times......

"Not wanting to start an "argument: either, just seems everyone is so quick to say it cannot happen, haven't read yet where someone tried and it didn't let them, although I just happened upon this topic today and have not researched in depth.

All I can say is I know it was allowed in December, I am not sure what anyone can do now...I have AP, so it is a non-issue for me. Just wanted to let anyone interested know that it was allowed at one point in time.

JPRCH - Thank you for sharing your experience. I know you were just being helpful.

It seems that there is always an exception to the rule when it comes to Disney policy. Even things like computer systems don't always work the same way for various reasons. Like they say "It is the exceptions that prove the rule."

I did call Disney and spoke to a CM in ticketing and she said that it is not allowed. (Rats!)

I would still be interested in hearing people's experiences having this work or not work. Although I'll be adding the park hopper to be safe. I'd hate to be going through the turnstile and have my children not get in and have to go over and buy hopper option then. (Knowing me I'd probably miss my ADR!)

Thanks ,
Tammy

Are you sure you did not buy a hopping ticket or a premium* ticket or receive free hopping as part of a promotion? How much did you pay for the 10 day ticket? In 2005 a 10 day base ticket (no other features) cost $223. incl. tax at the gate.

Disney hints:

*Obsolete nomenclature for a ticket with hopping and water park fun.

I was thinking the same thing.

The exception thing - I first heard it from an English teacher in high school. It was in the context of English usage rules, spelling, grammar etc...
It went something like "for every rule, there was always an exception. So the existence of the exception didn't disprove the rule, rather the existence of the exception proved the existence of the rule - because all rules have exceptions."
The wonderful teacher would probably shudder at my poor attempt to explain her words, but that's the general idea.
It always seems fitting when it comes to Disney rules. :)

It was not a promotion, just the regular magic your way 10 day ticket with no park hopper option. Good luck to all, it worked the week of December 12th 2005.
