I was talking to my friend earlier about tickets, she went last May and said in her opinion, it wasn't worth park hopping as with paying for parking and stuff, it made more sense to do full days in a particular park.

When we go it's gonna be heaving (23rd Dec-4th Jan) so I was wondering if I should just get basic tickets...or do you think a hopper would be better in case the park we chose for the day was packed out? Hoppers would enable us to try somewhere else (which could be equally packed!!!) but I don't want to have something and pay extra if I don't need it :confused3

It's such a minefield :(

once you have parked at one car park, ie epcot and then decide to do mk you could use the wdw transportation such as the monorail, this way you would only pay for parking once thus enabling you to park hop as much as you would like.

My personal opinion is that having the option to hop between parks is a must. I have 2 small children and they cant hack staying in the park all day (not to mention me!! :lmao: ) so we go to a park early in the morning, go back to our pool for a swim then returnn to a park later in the evening to watch parades and fireworks - this is normally when our park hopper comes into use as we will usually end up at a different park in the evening. Like comingtodisney said you're parking is good at any park all day so yu dont have to stay in all day to feel you got value for money! You are also going for quite a while so the option to be flexible is probably better than weaing yourself out by staying in 1 park for a whole day to feel like you got you're moneys worth!! HTH

You only pay for parking once a day anyway. Just show your parking ticket at the next park and you'll be allowed to park at no extra cost.

Hopping is a must for us, too :)

We often take a break back at the resort during the day but, even when we don't leave the parks we still like to hop to a different park to break up the day. We leave the first park after a few hours and arrive at the second (and third and even fourth!) park refreshed and ready to start again.

Definitely have the hopper ticket. We always hop from park to park especially for the evening to watch fireworks etc. It will give you a lot more flexibility for a few pounds more.

Why don't you buy the basic tickets then see how you get on for the first couple of days. If you decide you want to hop you can add it on later. You can upgrade a ticket any time before the ticket expires.

One thing to be careful of at Christmas - if the parks get too full they stop letting people in, so if you leave a park and go to another one you may not get into that park.

When we stayed off site we never park hopped even tho we had hoppers, now onsite is a different story, we hop many times a day.

I also think hopping is a must especially around xmas. We only found the parks closed early was on xmas day and new years ever. Also as someone has said just use Disney transportation.

Go for hopping, then you have a choice its worth it :)

Thanks guys, thats what I love about this board, you all have so much experience and it always proves invaluable!
I think we'll just pay the extra and have it IF we need it... better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!:thumbsup2
