I am expecting in the next week to make an offer on a resale.
Lets say by middle May we close on it. We have had plans for the family to take vacation during June or July. I should have between 2-300 points when we close.
Will I be able to find any property with only a month or two notice for us to stay at? We would like a 1 bedroom.
I would hate to spend a fortune on a home resort and then have to pay cash at a resort because all properties were filled.
If that was the case could we sell our points without any problem to recoup the expense layed out using cash. Does this question make sense? Thanks for putting up with all my questions the last few days. I will send all of you a check for your wonderful responses. Dennis

It is very possible there will be availability somewhere, especially if you are able to book 30 days or more when members have to make their cancellations for that time frame.

You could also rent your points out and use the cash to stay wherever you like. You have time to do a little research on renting and visit the RENT/TRADE board to learn the ins and outs of renting points.

Get on a waiting list for any of the 5 resorts. Someone will cancel likely. I have switched resorts on a days notice. Once I went from a studio to a 1 bedroom and my room was ready that morning that I switched. I was amazed, ususally I make a res 11 months out and have to wait for the room to be ready at 4 pm.
Tou just never know.

You can use your points at any WDW resort and there should be plenty of rooms available during that time period. Please note I said WDW resorts not just DVC resorts. The economy is not recovering like expected so you should have plenty of choices this summer.

Also the 1BRs are frequently last to fill up. So if you are flexible about where you want to stay, you should be able to get something with just 60 days notice. Be sure to get on a waitlist for your favorites if they are not available when you first book.

I would be willing to bet you can get into Old Key West. Since it is the biggest DVC resort, your best chance may be there. Try a 2-bedroom if you need the space, or a one bedroom if you need a little less.:yo-yo:
