My brother (DVC owner at BCV) and his family, plus my sister-in-laws family and my parents are all going to WDW in October for the Food & Wine festival. They just told me about this yesterday *grumble*, so I scrambled to make reservations for my wife and I to join them.
They are all staying at BCV, so of course we want to stay there too. However, there's no room (studio or 1bedroom) available for the whole time. So, this is what we're doing:
October 10 to 11- Boardwalk
October 11 to 12 - BCV
October 12 to 13 OKW
October 13 to 14 to 15 BCV
October 15 to 16 to 17 OKW
Check out on the 17th

Yuck!

We're on the wait list for having the whole thing at BCV. What do you think the chance is that we'll get at least some more consecutive days at BCV?
Has anyone had good luck with being wait listed?

Wow! pixiedust:

Am I correct in assuming that you are moving because you want to be at BCV and not because there was not room at OKW for the entire time? Because there are just 2, "2 nights in a row" reservations that you'll be needing, I think (hope) you'll get them.

Ya..major yuck.

We do want to be at BVC the whole time because that's where the rest of my family will be. I live in California and the rest of my family lives in Minnesota, including my adorable 5 & 9 year old nieces, so I don't get to see them very often. I'm really hoping that we get to stay at BCV the whole time.
This moving back and forth every other day is gonna get really old, really quickly. :sad2:

You are going to spend a lot of time checking in and out and waiting for Bell services each day to come get your luggage to move it. I hope your waitlist comes thru.

If you have "extra" points (I know; who has extra points), you could use some at the Yacht Club and be just down the hall from them all.

Good Luck

Oh..I didn't think of this. We're new to DVC and I didn't know that I could use my points at the Yacht Club. thanks for that info! I'll call tomorrow and see how many pts that would take.

You'll have to pay $95 for each reservation you have at the YC on top of the points that you use.

$95 a night, or $95 for the whole reservation?

Thanks

Thanks

$95 for each non-DVC reservation. So if you book something at the beginning and at the end, you pay twice (two reservations). If you book the entire time or just one day, you pay once (one reservation).

Wow..thank you for the quick response and the info.

I don't know how fast the YC books up during October but I would call to see if they have a lot of rooms available. If they do then, depending on how precious your points are to you, I would wait and see if the waitlists come through. You could do backup waitlists at the BWI maybe.
If you decide to wait then just check back periodically and if they start to fill up then make the reservation.

Thanks Regina

I didn't know that I could have more than one waitlist at the same time. I'm going to call MS tomorrow and get on a waitlist for the Boardwalk too!

Double check with MS but I think the new policy is if the waitlist for BWV comes through, they will automatically CANCEL all other waitlists. So, if you still have your heart set on BCV I would probably call MS more often to at least to try to get the moving to a minimum. Once per trip is enough for me!

Also, remember that if you use your points at the YC, they will be converted to reservation points and can no longer be used at a DVC resort even if your waitlist comes through later on.

GOOD LUCK!!

You are very brave! We moved once during a stay (from BCV to BWV) and it was very painless but I cant imagaine having to do it that many times:confused3

Best of luck and I hope everything comes through for you!

Thanks! We're hoping that something comes through as we really don't want to move around that much.

We're now waitlisted at BCV and Boardwalk for a 1 bedroom or a studio at all views possible. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I'd be happy with anything, just so long as we don't have to move every couple days.

It seems to me that the time you want to spend with your family will be spent moving from one location to another.
We did it once with just the 2 of us and NEVER again!!
We are booked in a 2 bedroom at SSR for 10/14 - 10/21 and want to be at either BWV or BCV because of the F&W Festival. I am on a wait list for both locations. You can only have 2 open wait lists at a time.
We could get 2 days in the middle, but all that moving with 6 people takes up a lot of time that could be better spent some where else in Disney.
Think again about all that moving. How many hours moving around will be lost when you could have been enjoying your family that you don't see often. You can go back to your villa at the end of the day to sleep and who know......you may enjoy getting away with a few hours of peace and quiet.

Wow, that is not a fun vacation at all. My friends tried waitlisting at the BCV several years in a row for a 1 bedroom and have never gotten it ever. One big factor that will hurt (other than F&W) is that October 11th is Colombus Day weekend. Holiday weekends are always busy. I suspect that weekend was sold out to it's members before the 7 month window ever openned. Personally I would book it at OKW (or SSR) and waitlist for BWV or BCV. Your odds are better at BWV -- but that holiday weekend is going to hurt you because the waitlist started back in March! Good luck!!

Heh. Funny to see this thread come up again as it was from 2008! Just for the record, our wait list for BCV did come though for nearly the entire trip and we ended up only spending our first night at OKW.

That being said, I'm really glad that we stayed at OKW because we absolutely loved it. The size of the 1 bedroom villa is incredible! We were pretty bummed to move to the much smaller 1bedroom at BCV.
So, it was all good and we had a great time.
