Hopefully going December 2006

After seeing the special on the Travel Channel about WDW at CHristmas, I decided we just HAVE to do this! Just wondering, how early would you book this (would like either GF or Animal Lodge) and when would be the "least crowded" time in December? Thanks all!

I don't think the decorations come down until late Dec/early Jan, but am not entirely sure. I would say either the first or second week of Dec is less crowded. Just be prepared for any type of weather. We were there from Dec 3-11 and the temps went from the low 40's to the mid 80's.

Thank you! I assume they are up through New Years...will check. We went in Jan. last time and the weather was WONDERFUL, but I realize you just never know.

I would go the first or second week of December. I believe the Xmas decorations go up right after Thanksgiving, if not before. We have been a couple of times the first week of December and it was great. The weather one year got into the 40's and we all had to buy sweatshirts. The other time we wore shorts! The crowds are mild compared to July.

I will be going in November of 2005 and November of 2006. I can't wait.

The first two weeks in Dec are suppost to be less crowed. We are going Dec 22 - 29 and then the 4 day cruise. We already have our reservations.
We went in 2001 from Christmas Day to New Years eve - it was very crowed but doable if you planned ahead (I did some then and now know a lot more).

The rates also go up areounf 20th to "Holiday" the most expensive time of the year. The decorations and activities were wonderful and we can't wait until we are there next year. I would go ahead and reserve now if you know what you want.

I agree about the temps - they veried widely in 2001 (30's one night and the upper 70's one day)

My understanding is that decorations come down very fast the first week in Janurary.
