I would not be surprised if the items are moved based on a schedule. Like the holiday items were set to expire after close of VMK on 12/31/07, therefore removed from VMK systematically.
So unfortunately as the rule has always been with VMK (and to be honest sometimes applies to real life as well) :
Buy it as soon as you see it
Dont fall into the trap it will always be there, because chances are it wont
If you have extra credits, get it dont wait

I think you may be right about items being moved based on a schedule and normally I always buy items sooner then later but I was taken by surprise with the New Years Party Hats, I thought they would be for sale through New Years Day. I had to log off early on New Years Eve so I did miss out on getting extra hats. Oh well, I should have know better as I was once told by the very wise W.C.Drummer "Always think of your purchases as if they could be taken away at any moment without notice, buy those that you would really miss." So true Drum, so true.
