I really hope that the rain stops soon so that the water levels can be lowered. I really feel for everyone who has been flooded are are likely to be homeless for the next few months.

Maybe the Government will now start to think that it is not such a good idea to build on floodplains. The proposed new town near Exeter is a floodplain site.

apparently the government has said they will NOT stop builders developing on floodplains, pure madness. I hope they subsidise the insurance for the poor home owners who live there

Yep water's now out, and may well be for 2 weeks to come!

Bowsers are out around the area, and I think I'll have to start using water from the nearby stream to flush the toilet!

I'm watching The Thames very closely as i'm only about 500/600 metres from it in Caversham (Reading). The latest warning is that it might reach breaking point early tomorrow morning.

I'm in a first floor flat so won't be too badly hit but may not be able to get to work (shame) as I have to cross the river to get to the train station.
