A demure Pixar takes no notice of eager suitors

Some possible hope for Disney and Pixar. Few key quotes from the aritlce:

There are two schools of thought among analysts and Hollywood executives as to why Jobs is biding his time. Some say Jobs is holding out hope of another deal with Disney, depending on what happens with Michael D. Eisner, Disney's chief executive.

Many analysts, and even some of Disney's competitors, say that what Jobs wants most is to remain with Disney. Pixar's family-oriented films are a natural fit with Disney's wholesome image, and they're easy to market alongside stalwart Disney characters like Cinderella. And the partnership has been profitable for both Jobs and Eisner.

"A lot of people want to see Pixar and Disney stay together," said Tom Wolzien, a media analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein. Added an executive at a major studio, "Disney can offer him things that no one else can."

Nonetheless, the frost between Disney and Pixar seems to be thawing. Jobs went out of his way to praise Disney executives two weeks ago in Pixar's earnings call.

I really think that Pixar and Disney make the most sense so hopefully they can work something out.

I also think that Pixar/Disney makes more sense to both parties than Pixar/anyone else.

I think the world of Steve Jobs because he hires and retains talent, and seems to not be threatened by surrounding himself with powerful personalities. He encourages design over "cost only" and manages to make money by putting out better products even if they are not best sellers. Disney could learn much by watching how Steve operates, and Pixar benefits by association with the Disney Marketing Machine.

I hope the "thaw" continues.

Funny also, Apple are bringing out more and more media orientated products...

Cold Mountain was made on Mac. Scrubs is edited on an Apple with Apple software. This kind of continues...

It seems that Jobs is quite interested in film and media; he is often described as a kid following his dreams. Perhaps a dream of his is to work for Disney? Not necessarily CEO, but maybe a slightly lesser role whilst he retains Apple, his lifetime achievement and Pixar, his triumph from infancy.

Not to mention that some of that talent are former Disney Imagineers. Are we talking a deal that would keep both companies as independent, or are we talking about a new Disney/Pixar conglomerate?
