Some of you know that my dad was diagnosed back in May last year with prostate cancer. His is the serious kind that they don't give much hope of surviving. Most older men diagnosed with prostate cancer has the less serious kind and will live long and die from something else. Anyway...

He has been treated for the last year with a shot to stop production of hormones (as hormones feed cancer) and a pill that is supposed to slow the growth/spread of the cancer.

Last May, his PSA test was over 100. Normal is 0-10 with 5 raising red flags.

Today's PSA results were 0.78! :)

If he can keep the number down for several months in a row they will say he is in remission!

Thought I'd update and thank people for the prayers!

Great news!!!

I sent you a PM..;)

That's wonderful news, Brenda!
Will keep your dad in my thoughts

Hugs, Marilyn

Congratulations to you both! My dad had prostate cancer 4 years ago and had the surgery etc... He's been cancer free ever since. He also gets the shots every 2 or 3 months and then has a blood test to check his PSA level. Still undetectable!Modern medicine is amazing....

Great news. 10 years ago at age 47 but brother had a PSA of 48. His cancer spread out of the prostrate gland. I am happy to say, he is still here today. He is on hormone therapy and had to have radiation about a year after his surgery. Best wishes for your Dad

Oh Brenda... that is such great news. I am so happy for you and your Dad. Continued good thoughts headed his way.
