I am pretty sure I am not going to be able to sneak in another trip before the demise of Adventures Club, so last week I had my final Hoopla. I did get to take a "friend" who had never been before, and got to see everything though both historic and noob eyes.
My comment early in the evening to my "friend" was to remember that this was all geared and originally staged to a 21 and over crowd. Which helps with the context of the adult jokes when the crowd is filled with toddlers, tweens and teenagers. My "friend" really enjoyed the performance and the interaction, got to see three shows in the main room, both side rooms and the hoopla... over a few beers (the kungaloosh machine was broken).
The performances were still fresh though I had heard the jokes a few times before, in fact one of the performers was nice enough to welcome me back (either I have a memorable face, am infamous, or there is a "beware of this guy" with my pic back stage)... but the audience interaction often fell flat since it was not a drinking crowd, and a lot of kids. Not to mention the semi regular cast members that hang out in the audience there did not seem in high spirits.
So over all, my "friend" really loved the show... and I know he'd have loved it more, back in the day of 21 and over with the crowd a little tipsy.
