Is the Hoop-Dee-Doo worth doing solo? How is the food? What about the service? How far is it from the boat dock or bus stop? Is the 5pm or 7:15pm show really crowded? Is this good to do on a MVMCP night or is it packed? Do they have tables for 1 or 2 people or am I going to be seated with people I don't know? Can I request a single table? How is the seating in the Category 2 areas?

Let's see if I can answer your questions in the order you asked them.....

I would think that it would be worth doing solo. The show is corny, cute and entertaining.

I really liked the food.....fried chicken, ribs, cornbread, baked beans, salad and strawberry shortcake.

We've been twice and the service was always excellent. Never had to ask for refills. They just magically appeared.

When you get off the boat, you walk down a path and veer to your right. I am not good with mileage but I didn't think it was too far to walk.

I have never done the 5:00 p.m. show but have done the 7:00 something and the 9:00 something shows. The 7:00 was pretty packed but the 9:00 was half empty.

Don't know about the crowds on a MVMCP day.

There are some small tables and I have actually seen just one person at a table both times we were there. You won't be seated with strangers.

Category 2 seating is not bad at all. We've sat in Category 2 and Category 3 and were able to see everything.

Hope this helps.

We did the 5:00 show and it was packed. The food was fantastic and we enjoyed it very much. Great service too. Have fun!

I think it's deffinately worth doing. I have seen tables with just 1 or 2 people at them. I have never been to HDD when it was'nt packed and have done both early and late. The food is very good IMO. The service is always excellent. And it's about a 1/4 walk from the boat dock....not very far at all!

I would do it solo. Get a category 3 and sit in the balcony the tables are in a long row. We sat there last year and agreed it was the best seats we ever had. We booked them again and I will be there on 12/27 for the 5 pm show.

Happy holidays to all

Definitely solo. There is something to watch the WHOLE time so you wouldn't feel weird. When I dine solo, I need to have something to do, like read a book. Also, the bus stop is VERY close. Do it. Have fun. I love Hoop Dee Doo.

I think this would be a great choice solo. The show is fun, fast paced and corny. The entertainers circulate among the crowd, including the balcony. The food is very good "Home Cooking" IMHO. Good chicken and ribs and great corn bread and Strawberry Shortcake. Our servers have always been friendly and efficient. Food is served "Family Style" to the table, so they deliver it quickly and check to see if you need more.
Pioneer Hall is very close to the boat dock, I am not sure of the bus stop. We have always done the 7:15 PM show and I believe it was always sold out. You will be seated at your own table, they do not combine groups here. I don't believe that you even need to ask for a single table, it is the norm.
We have always been seated in Category 1, but I have read that all seats are good.
Go and enjoy, it is a Great Experience!!!

We did the Hoop on Nov. 27, at the 7:15 show.

1) It is a funny but cheesy show, I might do it alone.

2) The food is good (Ribs, chicken, baked beans, strawberry shortcake, etc. we loved the food)

3) It was packed, but the "house" doesn't seem crowded even at capacity. There are some smaller tables on the balcony. We sat there with 3 and we had amazing views of the whole show.

Enjoy! "HOOP DE DOO! HOOP DE DOO!!!"
