DH and I have been to Disneyworld a few times, but neither of us have ever been to the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review. We have a five year old now (and grandma and grandpa will probably come along as well.) I know this is a dinner show, but can anyone tell me if you felt like Hoop Dee Doo was worth the money?

Thanks for opinions!

we had a great time last summer!

I went as a kid too and we enjoyed it then!

The food is yum (beer and sangria included!) and show was fun.
Salad, fried chicken, ribs, corn bread! yum yum yum

it is a good family show

we were on the dining plan and used credits for it.

My DD(11) and DD(8) went for the first time last year. I have never seen the girls laugh so hard! It is kind of corny, but still lots of fun. The food is also great...southern fried chicken, corn bread with honey butter, ribs, and strawberry shortcake to top it all off. The girls loved the show and food so much they insist that we go again this summer.

I can't guarantee you'll love the show, but I still recommend you try it if it fits in your budget.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should say that I don't really like Hoop-Dee-Doo. I have no intention of seeing it again, at least until I have children of my own to take. But Hoop-Dee-Doo is classic Disney entertainment -- something every Disney fan should experience at least once. It's a timeless relic, an integral part of the Disney World experience. Sure it's hokey and corny. Sure it's incredibly outdated. But something about it screams "Disney," and for that it's worthwhile.

It is absolutely worth doing! We don't do it every year because it has been the same show since it started so we don't want to get bored with it.... so we go every other year! But yes... it is very popular and very well loved! :thumbsup2

We LOVE the HDDR and think it is well worth it. I first went in the 80's when my children were young. We all loved it then. I went back a few years ago and it warmed my heart that my oldest DS, now a Dad, wanted to take his 2 little ones to experience what he had loved.
I have been with 3 generations and with adults only and each time we have all enjoyed ourselves.
It is a western themed show with lots of singing, dancing, audience participation and corny jokes! It is high energy and great fun.
The food is good "down home cooking", with all you care to eat fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, salad and corn bread with honey butter. There is delicious strawberry shortcake for desert. Beer, Wine and Sangria are included, as are the tax and tip.
Enjoy.

I agree with this statement. In general, reviews are nice to read, but in the end the only way to know if you and your family will like something is to try it yourself.

Personally, I love HDDR. I have gone on every trip to the Orlando area except with Disney trips with school and summer camp. We had a convention at the Gaylord Palms a couple of years ago and I treated a bunch of clients to it and they all had a great time (the unlimited beer, wine and sangria helped). I took my girlfriend on her first trip to Disney a couple of years ago and now she really enjoys it herself.

The food is pretty good, it's not fantastic but if you like ribs and chicken you won't leave hungry. The show is a corny Vaudeville show, but it is a lot of fun. There is a lot of singing and dancing that goes on off stage and out with the guests which leads to some audience participation. If you want to save a few $ sit up in the Cat. 3 seating. The actors still make their way to the balcony so you won't feel left out and you wont have to worry about people sitting in front of the little one. My girlfriend and I actually prefer the Cat. 3 seating opposed to sitting on the floor.:thumbsup2

IMO.. YES! My family loves HDDR and we try to get it in every trip. The show is fun (although a little corny) and the food is tasty (and there's lots of it!). You won't be disappointed!

100% absolutely this show is amazing. I am looking forward to taking my DS and DIL and my 2 young grandsons in 3 weeks. It will be there 1st time. Only my DD and I have been and we laughed so hard anda plus is the food is really good as well.
When my DS decided to go he said the only place he knows he really wanted to go was the HDDR because so many of the people he works with told him how great it was too.
ENJOY!!!!!!

We had a great time when we went on Christmas day last year! Fun for the whole family, and the food was DELISH! :thumbsup2

Hi queenofhartz,
I think it is well worth it for the entire family. The food is good and it is lots of fun. :) I have been several times and most recently a month or so ago and had a wonderful time. If you do decide to go I don't think you would have any regrets. Have a great trip. :thumbsup2

GREAT show and time...lots of food, good drink, real enjoyable evening. Very accomodating. Should difnintiely enjoy it.

I wasn't so sure about this one... It just didn't look funny to me... kind of like the old TV show Hee Haw... but....... DS4 laughed NON-STOP during the show! DW and I (DH) had a great time too! Our waitress was so incredibly funny and definitely up for some kidding around.... I won't spoil the fun by giving away some of the fun little extras of the HDD experience... but I HIGHLY recommend this one!!!

By the way.... you know the pictures they always try to sell you at your table? Buy this one. You get your picture taken outside before entering the show.... It's 2 pictures, 1 of you and your family.... the other is a very nice picture of the whole HDD cast.

In my opinion the HDDR is one of only a couple restaurants worth 2 dining credits. Love it.

Definitely worth the money!

We went last August, for the first time, and both of our sons had a great time. DW and I couldn't stop laughing. One of our boys is autistic and he was totally transfixed on the show the whole time.

We loved it so much that we are going again this August.

My family loves HDDR! I think it is a perfect family show for both your daughter and the grandparents. Even my three teenage daughters love it!

We LOVE it! We're an extended family with ages ranging from 2 - 60; and we all give it a thumbs up! I've never seen my grandson laugh so hard!

I would say this is right on - we have seen HDDR twice and the kids - now 15 -17 -20 wantd to go again. So we are in July. It is goofy and mostly predictable but throw in all you can eat food and a heavy dose of sarcasm and it makes for an enjoyable evening in a cool part of Disney that many don't see. We have camped at FW several times and it is great.

So i'm thinking of doing this as my birthday celebration next year. We'll have three kids with us ages 2, 5 and 7. Will they all enjoy it? Concerned most about the 2 year old. Thoughts? We'll be a party of 15. Any advice or thoughts MUCH appreciated!:goodvibes
