Can't make up our minds on the whole Hoop Dee Doo thing....getting there...the late show....tables far away....all with a 1 yr old. I don't know. We (me, dh, ds) would love to go. But...I don't know if it's going to be entertaining enough for DD (about to be 2) She loves music and dancing. The thing is #1 if we use our DP we HAVE to go to the late show #2 be in section 3 (or something like that) seating. I am assuming that's farther away so it really may not keep her attention. IMO anybody paying for any DP should get to choose as well as anyone paying OOP :confused3 #3 the getting there, whole bus/car issue. I think we have decided if we DO go to get her a nap and drive from the resort and pick up the FW bus. #4 all of the above on top of her maybe getting sleepy anyway and start showing out....what to do besides leave? Is the dining hall stroller friendly- incase I need to stroll her around, so i can still see the show? If not, Is there an area inclosed out from the dining area that I CAN stroller her around? I really don't want to leave a $60+ meal on the table, but I need a plan in place! Our family going with us has TIW cards, but it's all the same rules as far as time/seating. Should we just pay OOP full price?? I know she would be fine at an earlier time. But if she is pretty well entertained...she might be ok..........never know with toddlers :rolleyes1

since you are asking for opinions ... I'm giving mine. I would NEVER even think of doing this with one that young. They are just too unpredictable. I might consider the early show ... but not the late one. Plus, it isn't fair to the other diners if things don't go well and you have a melt down on your hands. Save your dining credits for something else and take your child when they are older. Again ... just my opinion.

No...I surely don't want to ruin every one elses dinner. I can't stand it when people just sit there and let there kid cut up thru dinner, or where ever in a public place. Although anyone with kids should understand if there is an occasional cry out, but I wouldn't sit there with her crying the whole time. I really do need to know if there is somewhere to stroll her around. My 12 yr old is really wanting to go too. If we wait-he won't get to until we go back...in a couple YEARS. We'll consider all the opinions and go from there:) We might just bite the bullet and pay OOP for an early time when I know she will feel good, if the show doesn't keep her attention...at least she will be happy strolling around...IF we have a place to...

I just notice you are from SC!! So are we- in Greenwood:)

Hey!! You're just right down the road! SMALL WORLD:) I'm jealous-you get to leave a few days ahead of us!! and a CRUISE in a few months...I am REALLY jealous!!! We hope to do that when Jaci is big enough to not climb over the rails ;) That I KNOW we need to wait on!!

I'm pretty sure you can't even bring a stroller inside. I do know it's possible for you to take the child outside if she acts up...but then the parent misses the show.

It's definitely not stroller friendly. There is just no room for strollers; the tables are packed in there. You would need to completely leave the building and go down the steps to an area to roll a stroller around. Cat 3 is in the balcony and there would be no way to deal with a stroller there.

We were there about 10 days ago at the middle show, Cat 1 seating. There were no small children around us at all. We had a 6 and 9 year old with us but all of the tables around us were adults only.

We do usually do the late show - a few times with a child in the 1.5-year-3 year-old range - and have never had an issue because my kids find HDDR mesmerizing, but, and it's a HUGE but, we live in the Mountain time zone and so it's 7:30 our time which is no problem for my night owls. Likely I wouldn't have taken my toddlers and preschoolers if it was past their usual bedtime.

My opinion differs from most... We have taken our son (now 3.5) at six months (slept thru whole show), at 18mos (loved it!) and at 2.5 yo (loved it more and now sings the song) and will be taking him again in two weeks... So I say go for it!
However... With DDP I thought the 9pm show was available category 1, 2, or 3... So you could have a good seat and cat 2 or 3 with DDP for earlier shows, so maybe you are not as restricted as you think (time and category wise). Look into it... Because really it's a greT show and I do recommend it for all ages including toddlers!

Another thought on getting there... If you are staying onsite it is easier to take the bus from your resort to MK and boat to campground on the way there and then taking the special buses they have lined up to go back to the resorts at the end of the show... Some resorts share buses but in our experience it's still easier than driving!

I think falls into the 'you only know your kids' category.

Have you ever been in a situation where you maybe got the kids up early, visited a theme park, in and out of lines, maybe got a nap and then had dinner maybe hours after their bedtime? Oh add in heat too.

For my kids this would have been a disaster. I don't want to bring up the Pizza Hut incident of 94. We didn't go to a sit down for years after that.

I found this on allears.net

Disney Dining Plan: The Dining Plan can be used for the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue for Categories 2 and 3 seating. TWO table service credits will be deducted for these shows. The Dining Plan can also be used for Category 1 seating at the 9:30 p.m. show, using two table service meal entitlements

We are taking my DD in February.. a week and a half before she turns 2. I have been to HDDR before and I cannot wait to take her because I know she will love it.. and I am hoping she will be so entertained that I can actually eat :cutie:
We are going to the 6:15 show... but my DD just gets more slap happy, cute, and well behaved as the evening progresses ( I think she does it to try and get out of going to bed  ) so I did consider the later show for a discount. I also wanted to get Cat One b/c I think she will be less entranced sitting in the balcony.
I say do it :thumbsup2

I took my grandkids age 9 and 11 to the late dining at HDDR. They were exhausted but ate like pigs. They loved it but were soo tired. I would NOT take a 2 yr old to the late dining. When they say 930 they mean 930 .
