Hoop Dee Doo transportation sounds like a nightmare!

I have reservations for the 7:15pm show of Hoop Dee Doo. Looking for the best way of getting back to CBR and it just doesn't seem like anything is efficient. Going to HDD is fine because we have lots of time but would like to get back to the resort and put DD to bed as quick as possible.

From what I read the buses back to the resorts do many stops and it could take an hour to 1 1/2 hrs to get back. If taking a car, using the internal buses to get you to the main parking lot could be a 45 minute procedure. Taking a water taxi to MK or CR and then taking a bus or taxi back to the resort also seems to be a long journey.

Any tips or suggestions? Or just accept the fact that it'll be a long night?

I would drive. The internal buses are not too bad - I think it is a 15-20 minute ride back to the parking lot. It will however, be crowded after the show. Our bus was packed - with many people standing. On our first visit to HDDR, we made the mistake of taking the boat - it was a long wait because of the crowds and very slow. They have lots of buses so even if you can't get on the first couple another will show up pretty quickly.

Have fun!

I would say boat to MK then bus to your hotel. Or bus to Epcot then bus to CBR. In either case, your CBR bus will only stop at CBR. It wont' be stopping anywhere else.

We did the internal bus system once...never again! It really took forever to get there and back. We take the boat from the MK and back and then take a bus back to the resort. It wasn't very difficult at all. I am certain that driving would be faster but we never drive at Disney.

We did the latest show and the buses were a nightmare. We did not get back to POFQ until after midnight.

If you have a car, I would say use it. If not, resign yourself to the fact that you might be in for a wait.

As long as the MK is open I have found that the best way to get to the resort is to take the ferry back to the MK and get my resort bus from there.
The ride back to the MK is relaxing, once the boat docks you just walk over to the bus station, and wait for your bus.
The later show can be a problem if the MK is closed because then they have the buses at FW to take you back to your resort. Generally there is 1 bus to service a couple of resorts, it can be time consuming.
But again if the MK is open head over there.

No nightmare about it.

Go out the doors, turn right, 50 yds the buses are waiting for you.......A CM will tell you which bus...off you go!:cool1:

internal buses use same bus stop as other buses and they get backed upped at show ending. plus you have stops at any loops needed. it can take 45 minutes from shows end to other end and your car. bus stop is alot smaller than parks only 2 maybe 3 buses can load at one time. if MK open late might be faster to ride boat and get bus at MK but it takes 15 to 20 minutes on the baot plus your bus ride from there. this was one of nights that daughter had grandsons in bed before we got me and my scooter on bus back in the campground. they used the golf cart. do not have a good answer for you and tired daughter back to your resort.

Someone shared this link with me, hopefully I'll post it right:

You may find it helpful to look over the map of Ft. Wilderness so at least when you're leaving the show, depending upon the direction the crowd takes, how late parks are open, you can have a few options in your mind about the best way to get back to your resort :goodvibes

Taking the boat has never been a problem for us. However, we usually stay at the Wilderness Lodge.

We took the car once and the internal bus did take a while but once on the bus it was pleasant. When we took the bus, it was a little confusing and did take longer. Whatever transportation you decide to use, you will love HDD. Have a great time.

Yes! I was wondering if they still did this. They will have buses parked that will take you to your resort. They may stop at a few resorts, but it will take you directly there without having to transfer to another bus, boat, train, plane or automobile.

The last time we took the boat from the MK it was terribly crowded - literally body-to-body. Though we normally prefer it to the buses, it was far from pleasant. We took the buses back home and they were actually not too bad. So it can vary. This was in mid- November.

This would be my best advice as well. It's a quick walk to the ferry, a nice relaxing ride, and then you can grab a bus to your resort. It's still going to be somewhat time consuming but is probably the best alternative IMO.

Well there goes my theory:rotfl:
It must depend on the time of year and overall resort crowd levels.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I'll just see what it's like that night and either take the buses if they are there or take the boat to MK. I'm still excited about going to HDD no matter how we get back to the resort! :)

We've done it twice. First time, we took the boat back to MK and then the bus back to our resort. And it was fairly pleasant..not a huge crowd, everyone had a seat. There is no standing on those boats...at least I've never seen standing allowed.
But, the second time we did it, we took a bus back to BW. The buses were there all lined up, just waiting for us to finish up HDDR. The bus we were on made one or two stops before BW. I think the bus went to POR, then to BW, and it was then going on to S/D and finally to YC/BC. It took us about 35 mins to get back to our resort. But, it probably took those staying at BC closer to an hour.

This! They run direct transportation back to resorts after the two later shows. You share with other resorts usually, but still much quicker than transferring around via park or DTD.

Check with any CM at the Hoop De Doo.

Don't use the boat!!! That's the only drawback of staying at Fort Wilderness - sharing the boat with the HDDR guests ;)

The times that we have gone to the 2nd show, we have not had buses available at FW to go back to our resort, only when we've gone to the last show. Now that said, I've always gone during the timeframe when the MK has been open later, even gone in Dec when there was a MVMCP that evening so the boats were running on a regular schedule. It has been just over a year since we've gone so things may have changed...just throwing it out there.

But did they have extra buses to somewhere, anywhere where guests could leave Fort Wilderness more quickly and go to parks or transfer to resort buses after the first and second shows?

And after the last Hoop De Doo show, are there enough buses for all guests waiting at the special bus platform?

I don't know your times seems very high. It seems like you have listed and others have posted worse case scenarios not the norm.
