Where is it at? Nobody's suggested this in my dining thread for my 4 year old DD. It sounds like fun from what little I've seen on here. Will this be open during our trip? 01-28-10 to 02-04-10? Can we use the dining plan with it?

The HDDR is located at the Ft Wilderness campground. They serve cornbread, fried chicken, ribs, baked beans, and strawberry shortcake family style in buckets. The show is kinda corny but cute. My DD saw it for the first time when she was 6. She's now 13 and this is the only sit down restaurant she wants to do the whole week!! She LOVES it and isn't even too cool to be there yet. :rotfl: I think your 4 year old will love it too.

Oh, it's also 2 TS credits on the dining plan

I think I'd rather do this 2 credit meal vs the CRT meal...sounds more up to DH's speed anyway :laughing:Reminds me of the Goofy Movie when they go to that possum place, my daughter thought that was so funny.

I did it last year with my then six year olds and my parents. We all loved it. I agree, it's super corny, but so much fun and very fast paced to keep little ones interested. The food is good, too (and you can't beat the unlimited sangria included in the price :) ). We were staying at WL and took the boat to Fort Wilderness.

Can we leave anytime after we're done eating? I'm wondering how long my 4 year old daughter will sit through this...she asks to leave during a movie!!! :3dglasses

This is a get down and dirty knee slapping good time. I have been taking my kids since they were three and they still love it, they are now 18 for the oldest and 13 for the twins. Food is good old BBQ and then the show is funny and you do not want to miss the end. Yes, on the Dinning plan it is 2 credits. There are other discounts you can use, but they are for the late show. Hope you have a great time!

It's corny but infectious. You will have the Hoop-de-Doo song in your brain for a long time!

I've actually seen small kids get up and dance! The setting is that of an old saloon with a stage. The stage is where the vaude-ville type act takes place. The ground floor has tables then there is a balcony level that wraps 3/4 of the way around. There are tables up there as well.

You will definitely leave smiling. I haven't been to Mickey's Backyard BBQ so I can't tell you how it ranks among all three dinner shows, but it is definitely better than the Luau.

What does it cost if you pay OOP?

I kind of dismissed the whole thing as corny, but now I wonder if DD might like it (She's 7).

Pricing is in levels based on seating.

First floor near the stage $59.99 per adult / $30.99 per child
First floor back or Center of Second floor $54.99 per adult / $26.99 per child
Right or Left side of second floor $50.99 per adult / $25.99 per child

They do serve beer and wine.

Our entire family loves hoop de doo! We go every third trip, so it doesn't get old. We just love it, swinging your napkin, spoon on the washboard....just good family fun! It's a place they always ask to go to, every trip!

HDDR: Corny to the hilt, but done so well that they haven't' changed the script since it was first opened back in he early 1970s. That should tell you something!

I've been seated on the floor up close, farther back and up in the loft area. My favorite of all places was the loft. It's less expensive and you can see everything! If you're worried about not being a part of the show or of worse service because you're upstairs, don't be. The service is great and they send the characters / spotlight upstairs so everyone has an equal chance of being embarrassed!

Oh, and the food... basic salad served in a metal bucket (yum!), corn bread, ribs, and the best fried chicken you've ever tasted! BTW this is the same food they serve over in Trails end if you're just going for the food.... but people go for the show.

Would I go every time? No. Not even yearly. I don't want to memorize the script - that would take the fun out of it. But it totally entertained my teen & preteen who think all Disney shows are too corny to bother watching. They want to go back!

Cool! I'm definitely booking it on the 27th! Looks like with our dining plan we can only get sections 2 and 3 but that's fine with me!

From a post I made yesterday...

Make sure you like the food they serve first. Some people have complained about the type of food and how it's served . I LOVE this food so I was at home. It will be family style, cornbread, beans, salad, fried chicken and BBQ ribs, smashed potatoes and dessert, both times we've been there it was strawberry shortcake (think that covers the meal). (dont know if it changes for seasons or not). It is all inclusive, including tip AND beverages, including beer and sangria. I personally have gotten the 1st tier I think it's called (the highest priced ones) and have really enjoyed being that close to the stage. The show itself is VERY corny. The adults will get all the jokes, the 4 year old will get some of the jokes, maybe. It lasts about 2 hours, but it goes by in a FLASH.

We went to this last December and had a great time (my daughters were 4 and 5 at the time). I plan to go again next December. It's cheesy, but fun and the kids really enjoyed it. We paid out of pocket to get the Cat. 1 seating - we knew we couldn't make it to the later show without the kids falling apart (as far as I can remember, you can use the dining plan for category one for the last seating at 9:30 - otherwise, you can only use the dining plan TS credits for cat. 2 or 3 seating). Even my husband, who is a grump, liked it.

My DD 4 would fall apart by 9:30 as well so I'm going to try to hit the 5:00 show and get the 2 or 3 seating. She might not be very keen on being up front where they can interact with her. She can be hit or miss on that kind of stuff. One day she'd think it's funny and great and the next day she'd cling to me and cry and give them dirty looks and want to LEAVE! :rotfl2:

DEFINATELY A FUN TIME....
We went on Superbowl Sunday 2009 (hubby was NOT impressed) but he quickly forgot about it when he and my dd (9 & 18) had a riot... Oldest DD LOVED the cornbread and she is the PICKIEST eater I know!! All of us loved the corniness and had a wonderful family time....
They even do a photo outside before hand that you can purchase. We did and then input the code for our photopass and had them added to it.....

Just another BIG vote for the Hoop De Do! Regarding this vs say CRT as far as 2 credits goes? No comparison. Even my 7 year old Disney Princessified daughter agrees! :lmao: She LOVES it there. The show, the food, the atmosphere etc. We try to do it every visit. Definitely a family favorite!

Oh, and the INCLUDED all you can drink beer with the meal, well, enough said if your a beer lover. :cool1:

When I told my hubby about the free unlimited beer he perked right up considering it's 2 hours of free beer! :rotfl2:
