I was able to get this for our stay but only cat 3 was available so we jumped on it. Is it a good view? We will have our boys (10 and 7) will they have a good view? Or should I keep trying for a cat 1 or 2? At this point im just happy to get a seat for it, but if its not good viewing Ill put up with calling back and trying for a better cat.

If anyone has pics of where they were it would be great

Hi... I was concerned also when we were only able to get Cat 3 seats but it actually ended up awesome. We were the closest seats to the stage but above (of course). The only thing we could not see was when they were performing on the rear part of the stage (which was nto very often). It was an awesome show and even my hubby enjoyed it immensly. I can post some pics later today...

I have sat in all three sections with my family.

All areas are good and I would not stress over it in the least.
The upper balcony areas looks Down (you sit on stools that swivel and turn towards the show (over railing) and then eat turned opposite way! We've done this several times with no issues and it was fun as the "players" wander up there too and the big spot light goes on people up there too. We've had best wait staff up there actually.

We have sat on the floor, way in the back and it was the worst seating I thought . More because people ahead of us kept standing up constantly and blocking the view. It was a large group and the parents decided to throw all the kids (and some were LITTLE) together and all the adults at another table, nice right:confused3 so the kids would go over and moms and dads walked back and forth the whole night, so inconsiderate, even the wait staff said something. If it was not the standing it was the "i hope they're eating over and over!!! UGH!

We have sat on the mid floor area as well. ONCE we got very lucky, like right near center and it was great, another time we were too close up front and I felt like you craned your neck the whole night. It was still great fun.

Honestly though, where ever you sit you will have a great time (barring People and their issues) so Have a GREAT time..... It really is a fun time and YUMMY food too!
By the way, have the kids see the MK horses or animals, also in this area before the show. Give plenty of time for bus transport, takes 2 buses to get to location... :cheer2:

1) Better seats ALWAYS cost more - Broadway or HDDR.
2) Regardless of what people say.
3) Repeat, regardless of what people say.
4) Categories
. . . Cat-1, floor level and back to 2/3 of house
. . . Cat-2, back 2/3 of house to rear of room and some balcony
. . . Cat-3, all balcony, 1/2 of table cranks neck, some views blocked by posts

NOTE: HDDR tables in each category are assigned by the date of the ressie. Earlier ressies get the better tables. The exception is table #044 and #045 which are kept open until show-day for last minute handicapped guests. Table numbers are identified as 044 = floor-level, fourth-row-from-front, fourth-table-from-left.

OMG. I booked this during the free dining package but have no idea what category I am......I DID tell her I had the free dining......but she took a credit card to hold it?

ACK....now I have to call back. Dining plan allows category 2 or 3 correct? (Unless its the 9:30 show but we have 7:30)

Here are a few pics from Cat 3 seating. We were the farthest closest to the stage above the piano. WE Really thought they were good seats...

As you can see it is only the back right of the stage that is not visable but I don't think much happened back there anyways...

They took your cc no because they charge you if you don't show. If you do, the cc no is not charged if you use your credits. And to be sure, the showtime is 7:15. You don't want tobe late.

They took it because I booked from my room only reservation for 8/14-8/15 - not my continuing Free Dining reservation. :(

They did charge my credit card.

I was told they would prefer if I just showed up at the podium that night and told them I had the free dining package BUT I didnt want to do that because I dont want the charge on my card for 90 days since I always pay my cards in full each month.

There were no category 2's left that night so....

She transfered me to a supervisor who was able to cancel and rebook me.

Now I am fretting (yes I am a worry wart) that since my reservation shows that I "booked" this 3 days later than everyone else on free dining that I will get the worst seats in my category...... The last time I researched HDDR (never made it there yet though) I seem to remember that they seat you in order of when you made your reservation.....is this true?

Plus she said it may take 2 billing cycles to have the charge removed from my card......

I AM going to make it there this time...I AM happy I have a reservation at all.

Thanks.

TheRustyScupper (or anyone in the know),
You seem very knowledgeable about the seat assignments for HDDR so I am wondering if you can answer a question related to your comment regarding that the earlier ressies get the better tables. I tried to book HDDR for the first day of my trip but it was not available for the time slot I wanted so I booked it on my last day (+10) on the first day I could call in at 7AM. So, hopefully it is a decent seat. However, I was going to check back later to see if my first day opened up due to a cancellation. My question is, if there is a cancellation, do all the other ressies move up in their slot to better tables and I am guaranteed the worst table since I am now the last ressie made or does the table originally assigned for the first ressie become free? I have never been to the show so I don't know how much difference we are talking so perhaps I am overanalyzing this a tad but I appreciate any insight.

I ate at the Hoop Dee Doo on July 9th and had a great time. I booked into a CAT 2 but ended up in CAT 1. The 9:30 show (the one I booked) did not fill up, so they upgraded everyone and closed the top floor. Although it was nice to be so close to the stage, we were also off to the side under the balcony and could not see the far right hand side of the stage. The place is so small though, there really is not any "bad" seats. I think next time I will book CAT 3 and just roll with it :)

1) Sometimes.
. . . if canceled before the seating chart is made, everyone behind moves up
. . . if canceled after chart is made, the tables are available to new ressies
2) Thus, someone getting a ressie the day before could have a better seat
3) Sounds unfair, but the chart cannot constantly be revised.
4) Just too much labor to revise for every change
. . . the assigning is made just after lunch hour in the HDDR box office
. . . assignments are made 8-days before the show date
. . . it is a manual chart with names written on it with a pencil/crayon
. . . the names in the computer are assigned the table number from the chart
. . . the chart is then erased for the next day's assigning
. . . nothing automated about it

We love HDDR and do it every trip, as a result, we have sat all over the place and never been able to complain about it. I would not worry about it and just go with it. The entire place gets to be involved. Have a great trip!

Did HDDR last year and we had booked Cat. 2 but we were seated about 2 tables away from stage in Cat 1 .It wasn't until almost the end of the show that I realized we had been bumped up for whatever reason.

I think it really doesn't matter where your seated bc it's not that big of a venue. Hey , you might even get lucky like we did!

We loved it and are going again in Sept. Love the all you can drink aspect for sure!

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge RustyScupper (on this and so many other topics)!!!

I know this is an old thread but wanted to let everyone know that there ARE seats that are blocked with a post....and it is blocked enough that I dont feel it is worth the money.

My son kept trying to bend over so I could see and if you look closely I believe on the left is the hair on the head of the woman at the next table so there really was no wiggle room for me to get a view.
