We are staying at the Boardwalk and arriving around 3:30 for our trip in February.
We have booked the 5:00 Hoop Dee Doo Review. What would be the best and fastest way
for all 7 of us to get over there.

This will be the first time we have ever done this and don't know what transportation options are available.

You can drive a rental car, that whould be the fastest. You will have to park at the FW Outpost parking lot where there is a bus stop for the Bonne and Crockette Bus to take you to Pioneer Hall where HDD is held. OR you can take a bus to the Transportation Center where you will have to change Buses to FW (again Crockette or Boone). Those Buses will stop at Pioneer hall.

My experience on Saturday was that your wait for the Crockette or Boone Bus could be as long as 25 minutes. They used to be faster when the Chip and Dale buses were running too, but Disney did away with them in the cutbacks.

Have fun !!!! HDD is GREAT family fun !

We won't have a rental car, so would it be best to just grab a cab? Can they take us directly to the Pioneer Hall?

I don't believe they allow cabs to Pioneer Hall.

When we stay at the Boardwalk and are going to HDDR, we take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the boat launch to Fort Wilderness. I would allow 90 minutes due to the potential waits for the bus and boat. As a result, you're cutting it awfully close if your arrival time is delayed. You could switch to the 7:15 show but then you may need to take the buses back to the BW depending on when the MK closes and the boats stop running.

I agree with Pete W. and his alternate route. But I agree, it will be a close call for time. If you take a cab, they will have to drop you off at the FW Outpost (maingate). You will still have to take the Boone or Crockette Bus to Pioneer hall which is a 10 minute ride. The wait for the bus will be the problem. Is there anyway you can change your seating to 7:30 to alieviate the preasure of getting there on time ?

Thanks for your help on this...I think we will try to change to the 7:15 show.

Especially with kids, we may need that little extra time to get organized.

I agree with other posters about trying for a little later show - once the doors are closed, they are closed.

The advice to go to MK and catch the boat is good advice. After the show, you may have to ride the bus to DD and then change buses to BW, will be a long night.

If MK is open late, then take boat back to MK and get BW bus.....

One Last comment. Remember, you are supposed to check in 15 minutes before the show ! Why ? Because if you didn't check in they resell your place to people on the standby list that showed up to wait for an opening. So, please don't be late !

Thanks everyone...we are working on getting our reservation changed...we'll take our time and probably go through the MK...a quick look at what the kids can expect to see the next day!

We just did the HDD during our stay last week, we did it on Sunday the 18th at the 5pm show. It was a good time, though I am not a chicken fan, but the ribs were good and the beans fantastic. Anyway, we took the bus from BW to MK, then the boat to FW. We hit everything at the right time, the bus came within a few minutes of our arrival at the bus stop, and we just about walked onto the boat for the trip to FW. Having all the modes of transit alligned got us there in about a half hour. I can see having troubles if you miss one of the connections - one night we were going to the MK and passed a crowd coming from the bus stop. Must have been the MK bus, as we waited a good while for the next one. You may have a wait at MK for a boat also.

Another alternative is to walk thru Epcot and take the monorail to the MK, which may be slower, but the monorail may run more regularly, but you have to go to TTC first and switch. Another way is to walk to either MGM or Epcot bus stops and take the bus to either WL or Contemporary and take the boat from there. And another way, though it will be getting dark around 5 is to take a bus to WL and walk the path, it is right about a mile from the bus stop to the Pioneer Hall.

When we returned from the HDD there was a crowd waiting for the boat back, but there is also a boat to the Contemporary, and that is a short walk to MK from there, even shorter if you are just going to the MK bus stop.

Another hint, when returning to the BW from MK, you can take the Swan bus, as it is a short walk from the Swan bus stop to BW, and quicker, as the BW bus stops at the YC first, then the BC, then BW. I guess this is also another alternitive to getting to the MK as well.

I think switching to the 7:15 is a good idea just for the peace of mind. Also, even if you "hit everything at the right time" like ahoff, getting to Pioneer Hall early is not such a terrible thing, especially with kids, since they have a petting zoo and pony rides nearby. I think there's a playground on the path from the boat dock, and you can also look for the "lawnmower tree" while walking the path.

If you end up going to the MK before your HDD reservation, you can take the boat from the MK to Fort Wilderness. The Pioneer Hall is right by the dock.

Success! We were able to get our reservation changed to the 7:15 show.
We plan to take the bus from the BW to MK and then the boat to FW.

Glad I posted this...and thanks for the help. By the time February rolls around
we'll be glad to get out of the snow and into the sun. This will make our first
night a great start to our vacation.

We went for thanksgiving last week.We were staying at akl so we took a bus from there to MK then the boat from there. It was a piece of cake.Taxis must drop you of near the front of the camp grounds and then you must take thre full camp ground route around from there. One more thing they ask you to come early so that can sell you photos which they take when you check in.The tables are assigned when you make your finnal payment in date order.I do not think they can give away paid for seats.:smooth:

I just noticed you switched to the 7:15 show.If all times out right you should be able to see the water light parade during the boat trip back to the MK.Have a fun!!!:smooth:
