We are going back and forth on this one and looking for some guidance. My DH cannot see using 2 TS for the HDDR and thinks the Whispering Canyone would be just as much fun. We will be dining with 2 kids ages 8 & 5 and I am sure they would like either one. Thanks!!

HDDR is a 2 Tbs service cause it's dinner & a show. Well worth it. It's good food & fun. Although I do like WCC it's good food & fun but it don't compare to HDDR in my opinion.

OK, I'm sorry, but my family just didn't get the Hoop de Doo.:confused3 My kids were 7 and 6, and they were bored stiff. Food was OK, but not great. Can't comment on Whispering Canyon, so take my opinion FWIW.

We loved both but for very different reasons. At a pp said, they really can't be compared. WC was very interactive, with fun waiters/waitresses, singing (including the hokey pokey), and stick horse parades. We'll be back again!

The HDR was a dinner show that was so much fun! We felt it was worth the 2TS and will be going back again. We loved the singing, dancing, and slapstick humor with the show. The wait staff was fantastic and refilled our drinks and food the second they saw us getting low. We really loved everything about this place!

Good luck on deciding which to visit. Really, they are both great and IMHO you can't go wrong!

WCC is just bad news bears. GROSS. I went despite the bad reviews on here telling me not to, and everyone was right. It's terrible. Bad food, bad service. Maybe we were just unlucky but with all the bad reviews on the place maybe go with something else. At least the desserts were good.

We have not been to WCC, (we are going to be staying at WL on our next trip so I am sure we will try it) but my family LOVES HDDR! We just went in January and it was Great!! We all really enjoyed ourselves!! Try it! :thumbsup2

If you've never done it... HDDR is well worth the "2TS" price. Sometimes loved it, sometimes hated it, but the food has always been good every time I've been there.
(4 times over ten years).

I enjoyed the Hoop De Do very much, like others said it's a dinner show not just dinner. If you are thinking about going to WCC just because you think the antics may be fun, you may want to rethink it. I have found the antics to be very hit and miss. We've been at dinner three times and have only had a fun server once. The second time we went we were seated in the back part of the restaurant, our server wasn't into it and since we were in the back we couldn't watch anyone else having fun either. IMHO the food at WCC is just mediocre at best, so I wouldn't go there just for fun that you may or may not get.

Just wanted to add, it seems like lately WCC has been getting a lot of bad reviews and very few good ones. To me it seems like they may be going thru a bad cycle or something. I know everyone tastes are different and reviews are subjective, but to me when a restaurant is getting a lot of bad reviews and only a few good ones, I would stay away.

I agree with this post!!! We have been to WCC 3 times, and never again. The first time was okay(1999), the second was a nightmare(2007), and the third (2008) , pretty much a repeat of the second time. Both in 2007, and 2008 we had to wait more than an hour past our ADR!

In 2007 they sat us at a table in the back down past the kitchen that was never part of the restaurant in 1999. This could have been a benefit, depending on how you look at it. My son had an allergic reaction. It was mild, so it had to be from cross contamination. He started vomiting, I started crying, rushing him to the washroom to clean him up. My husband and mother came to help us, and when we got back to the table, my Dad's eyes were swelling closed. :confused3 He was having some kind of reaction. This has never happened to him before. This was the only negative thing that happened to us at all this trip. The waitress was not very helpful. Nor did she notice what was going on at our table. The cast member working the pin cart outside of the eating area helped us.:sad2:

In 2008, we went back because my In laws wanted to try it. No allergic reactions this time, but we had to wait 1.5 hours after our ADR to be seated!! The food is not worth the wait and the time and effort it takes to get there.

As for the HDDR, we have gone every trip. We enjoy the show and the food. We have been on the dining plan the last 2 times, but I still paid for tickets myself for better seats. We also like to go because it gets us to the Fort Wilderness Camp ground. We would never see it other wise.

If you use DDP you will be seated in the back or second floor. We had a great time food and fun was had by all. We did pay for this event outside the meal plan so we were near the stage. I would do it again, in fact we will see the Hoop-Dee-Do again.:grouphug:

While I agree HDDR is a wonderful dinner and a great show, I personally would opt for WCC with your children the ages they are. HDDR will probably be only mildly entertaining for them at best with most of the slapstick well over their heads (and as pp stated, seats may be well in the back). At least at WCC there is opportunity for them to interact and participate (wooden horse races) . . . we've only been once and I can't say that it was so much fun we'd race to get back there but it was enjoyable for my kids who were both 5 at the time. We went at lunch by the way and it was not at all busy or crowded so that may make a difference.

I like the HDDR so much that I always opt to pay out of pocket for category one seating to be sure to be right down where all the action takes place...plus I enjoy the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks.

I've eaten at WCC too (as part of a day long tour) and I thought the food was good (it was pre-selected as part of the tour)...but nothing super special.

But different strokes for different folks...so gotta do what you think you'd enjoy most. You won't know until you try it though.
