Which one is better? I can't decide which one to go to - or do both. The food seems to be the same at both.

When are you going? The Hoop do do has ac the bbq does not. The BBq has charaters the HDD does not, it is a show. Talking to people and reading this board I decided not to do the BBq when we go in August.

Well, HDDR is a full-fledged dinner show and is definitely more entertaining. The BBQ is basically a character meet and greet with a country-western band thrown in. If your children really enjoy seeing characters, they'll probably enjoy the BBQ. Many children like the HDDR as well since the humor isn't all that sophisticated, but there aren't any characters there. I think it comes down to whether you would like a character dinner vs a non-character dinner show better. Good luck! Have a great trip!

but you'll never go wrong attending the HDDR.

We go to the show each trip we are in Disney. I'll be there 8/17/04. Can't wait.

I posted the same thread a while back. We are going in Sept and I still have both booked. However, after reading everything, I will definitely do the HDDR. I can't find anyone to say anything bad about it. I think the food is a little different.

The reviews on the Backyard BBQ differ. Some are raving, others say it is chaotic. I think the open area and characters would be great for my very active kids, but if it is hard to keep up with them my DH and I will be nervous wrecks trying not to lose them in the crowd.

I think that I have decided to do HDDR and then just stick with character meals for dinner for the character interaction, but this is partly because of the logistics. The Backyard BBQ is only offered on Tues. and Thurs. and we want to do Spectro on Tuesday night and then on Thurs. we will be at the Yacht Club so we will have to do a lot of travelling. I still haven't cancelled though, because some replies said the Backyard BBQ was a better deal than HDDR and that young kids enjoy it more.

Not having done the BBQ, I won't give my opinion on whether or not to do it, but just having done HDDR on 7/16, I would say do not miss HDD!!! It was one of the best meals, the show was great fun and it was a definite highlight of our vacation!

we cancelled our bbq ressies and made HDDR ressies... mainly based on the lack of air conditioning at the bbq! (plus the mosquitoes reported to frequent the bbq too!)

my only concern is my picky eater... is it possible to get a hot dog at the HDDR? that was the deciding point originally when selecting the BBQ... now i'm thinking that we'll just feed him before or after or pray that pixie dust washes away his pickiness?
