I am hoping you all can give me some feedback. I am in the process of planning our itinerary for August and we are coming up on our 180 day mark. I have 2 little girls, 5 and 7 and I am having trouble deciding between Mickey's BBQ or the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. We are planning to go to quite a few other character meals during our stay, so that is not really part of the decision.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

I've never done the BBQ, but I love the HDDR! The one thing that I would think about is the weather. The BBQ is under a covered pavillion (I think), but I would find out if there is a weather postponement/cancellation procedure. It will most likely rain/storm most days/evenings in August (it did last Aug when we were there). Maybe someone else on here has experienced this or knows how to answer that.

We are taking our two boys (who will be 7 & 6) to the HDDR in August so I vote for that! :goodvibes

Although we haven't done MBYBBQ, we absolutely love HDDR! My BFF's family did the BBQ & were very disappointed in it. Their son was 5 at the time. We love the show at HDDR & the food is really good. Although our DDs are spread out in age, they all loved the show.

My five year old niece loved Hoop Dee Doo. She was even selected to go onstage. It was too cute. Due to the ages of your kids, I would say go to the BBQ if your girls are very social. Many kids tend to get lost in the mix by more agressive adults trying to push their young ones through. You do not want to be "that adult", but you do not want your kids to be railroaded by "that adult" either. If they will get involved in the action by themselves, they will love the BBQ. I think almost everyone loves HDD though!

Dh and I just came back a couple weeks and we saw HDDR. Our kids are 5 and 7 and they would have *loved* it. We told them about it and they wanted to watch some on youtube. They loved it. I'd like to take them when we go as a family in April.

Im sorry but our family must be different from the norm...we found HDDR absolutely excruciating. MY 8yr old begged me through the whole thing to leave...he didnt get any of the jokes and we had to explain them all to him. The singing was awful and food just ok...we have a good laugh about it now, if our kid is being naughty we threaten him with tieing him to a chair and making him sit through HDDR again...lol This is only our opinion though...alot of people like this sort of thing...just not our cup of tea.

I can say that I wouldn't recommend Mickey's Bbq. We did it in Aug 2009. It was SO hot....it is in a pavilion, so no air conditioning and a lot of people. The characters were out, but they would get swarmed by people and my DD never really got close to them. The food was okay...typical bbq food.

It has been a long time since I did HDDR and never with DD, but I can't say that I would take her to it right now.

My mom also did the Luau and she LOVED it...so I would recommend that for your girls. She said my DD4 would love it now. She also said the food was great.
