Hoop-Dee-Doo or Mickey's Backyard Barbeque?

Due to all I have read on here I would pick Hoop-dee-doo.
I have read so many great things about it. On the other hand I have not heard of all that many people who have thought the BBQ was worth the money.
I've never been to either one so maybe some others will come along who have first hand info!!:)

We've been to both and HDDR wins hands down IMO.

I am strange, for me it is hands down MBYBBQ. We go there every year.

It depends on the ages in your party. If you have younger children, there is no better place on WDW property to interact
with characters than Mickey's BBQ.

Go to HDDR you will love it! My bunch(10,9,8,7,5) were laughing continuously. They loved it and the food too. DH and I got to dance in a spot light serenade cause it was our 10th anniversary. Very Very fun!

LOL...

My family LOVES HDDR, and we are going to do MBYBBQ for the first time this year.

Sorry, I can't comment on BBQ, but HDDR is the attraction my family (4 generations worth) returns to every visit. Join the cult!

I think BBQ is a little harder to manage with children in strollers, though they will have some fine character interaction. The food is almost identical, but served on long buffets in BBQ (alas no strawberry shortcake). You are seated at long picnic tables rather than in a family group as at HDD. Entertainment at BBQ is more singing, rope tricks, learning country dancing, and special dances to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and the like. Less corny jokes and theme. Several opportunities for character interaction. They are both fun -- we loved celebrating our anniversary at BBQ.

We went to HDDR the first two times and BBQ the last 2. I love the character interaction at BBQ...I have 4 children. Where else can you dance all night with Mickey. HDDR was a fabulous show, but if I had to choose one, it would be BBQ.

we're also undecided on M's BBQ and HDDR...

is it true that the BBQ has a bigger selection of food than the HDDR, including hot dogs and watermelon? (my kids won't eat chicken/ribs or disney mac & cheese!) the luau was a waste for my kids last time... we had to buy them dinner when we left...

would love menu info on each so as to make a decision before we got at the end of august... gotta make those reservations!!!

I'm also curious about the kids offerings at Hoop de doo, my DD's are 2 & 4, I know they won't eat Ribs or Corn on Cob. Anyone have any experience with young kids there? Thanks!!
