I need HELP!

We are booked for POFQ for 11/19-11/26 and the DH wants to do one of these. Which one is the better choice? I was thinking about doing it on 11/19 as we should arrive early afternoon (we are driving) and thought it would be a great kick off to great vacation.

I don't know much about either, just what I have read, I would love some feedback on which would be better for us. There will be my DH and DS (he's 13) and myself.

HELP?!?!?!?!

I would not do the backyard barbecue if it's just two adults and a teenager...this event skews a bit younger.

the last reply is correct. from posts i've read, bbq seems to be popular w/ages 2-7, older tends to dislike it. do this search term in the dining thread: "backyard" for a ton of useful info, pics, and even one really good 6 minute youtube summary video.
i intend to try bbq myself this october. we've done hoop-de before. the food is good, but the show's current delivery seems to involve more screaming than entertaining. you will also find many comparison threads (your exact question) of these 2 shows w/ the afore mentioned "backyard" search. i'm sure you'll easily make your decision after looking through there.

I have done both and would only recommend the BBQ to people with small children who like to get up and dance. It really seemed that the people enjoying themselves were the preschool crowd. But for them I think it is great!

HDDR all the way! We have gone every year for the last 5 years. My 9 year old talks about it well after the trip. Food is ok, but the show is so hokey it's funny!

We love HDDR. I think it would be perfect for your family.
It is a Western Themed "review" The food is good "Down Home Cooking". It is all you care to eat Corn bread, salad, fried chicken, ribs, beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and strawberry shortcake. It includes unlimited soda, beer, wine and sangria.
The show is highly energetic, singing, dancing, audience interaction and full of corny jokes.
We have been with 3 generations and everyone loved it, and adults only groups and had a blast.
Enjoy

Not to pile it on, but did BBBQ last trip with DS-13. He was a good sport because DD-6 liked it, but he was bored to tears. DW and I weren't thrilled with it, either. Food not so hot. That was a first and last. HDDR is the slam dunk choice.
