My husband and I are going to WDW in Dec./03, staying at that wonderful WL!! No kids, we will celebrate our 31st anniversary, & I think we will be going to Yachtsman while there. Going to MVMCP on the 16th, which is our anniversary, eating at LTT. Now our problem, which should we do this trip HDD or Luau? Any help or experiences at either will be appreciated!!

Thanks

Hoop dee doo! I've done both and although the Luau had some great points overall it was a bit long and boring. Hoop dee doo had the best (and cheesiest ;)) jokes and is a blast!

Have to agree, the HDD is better than the luau. They just changed the show but i'm not sure I would chance it. We did the Luau last year and the food came out cold and not very good. Long show and got boring by the end.

Sorry to say but I went to HDD last December and absolutely hated the experience. Families who had young children seemed to have fun, but us two adults thought it was lame. We were bored and couldn't wait for it to end. I think that we would've loved to walk out but we were seated right against the front of the stage where the banjo and piano player sat. They were very nice as well as the people in the show, but the show itself is overly corny. I found one thing that I did not like at Disney and this was it. I don't know if I would like to attend the Luau either but at this point wouldn't feel that bad about that show as they will not be telling bad jokes.

Have you considered maybe a better dining option. Those shows aren't cheap and what your spending on it you can certainly eat at California Grill during the time when the fireworks can be seen for about the same price or just a bit more.

My mother and I have gone to both.

The Hoop Dee Doo back in 2000. It was okay, but like the above poster said it looked like families with kids enjoyed it more. The food was good. Even though we were up close it was too the side by the kitchen. Some day I would want to try it again to see if I still don't care for it. I have heard raves about it, but we could not understand why adults loved it.

This past May we did the Luau. We both loved it. We had a great table up close to the stage, our food came warm, and we loved the show. One of the girls with long blond hair was a fantastic dancer. One warning. The tropical drinks are not included with your dinner and the show. The waitress does tell you and the menu does mention it in the back. The party at the table next to us was not paying the waitress any attention when she told them this. They all ordered the drinks when after they came one woman finally noticed it on the menu they were READING and started complaining that she was not told. I was hoping she would ask me because I was dying to tell her how rude she and her party were and that they were not paying attention to the waitress. Disney must have given them comp drinks because one male at the party had SEVEN tropical drinks when the show was over.

The Luau is great, once, I am glad we went, it was fun, but we have never been back. We have been to the HDD seven or eight times. We keep going back because its so much fun and the food is great also.

Not gourmet, but very good fried chicken.

Thank you all for you responses! You can always count on Disers to help you with a decision! I made reservations for HDD! Will let you all know how it goes when we return.

My wife and I went to both this last Dec. Our favorite is HDD. We love it and keep going back. The Luau is OK but is outside and it can get cold at that time of the year. We almost froze this last trip. At least HDD is inside. Some people don't like the corny nature of the HDD but we love it. Evidently others do to. It is one of the longest running show at WDW ...smjj
