Which do you think my DD would enjoy more - The Hoop-Dee-Doo or Backyard BBQ? She'll be 15 when we go. We've never been to either, and they both sound fun. Thanks!

I'm guessing Hoop De Doo. The Back Yard BBQ is geared more for little kids, but I like it, too.

We did both our first time at FW and even though my kids were "littler" when we went -- we ALL agree we will NOT do the BBQ again. It was the worst character meal we've ever done. (Maybe I just hadn't read on it enough...but believe me I scour these boards and guidebooks before we go....)

The BBQ is somewhat like controlled chaos -- it's a character free-for-all in the dancing area. The characters do not come to the individual tables like at most other character meals. (Likely not important to your 15 year old...but maybe to others planning their trip!)

We enjoyed the Hoop Dee Doo (although our son got a fever there and slept through most of it!) and we are taking Grandma and Grandpa this time so we will likely do it again. I think even 15 year-olds will enjoy it! (hey it's Disney -- what's not to love?! ok...the bbq but I will leave it at that!)

I would vote for the HDDR and must say they did have the Backyard BBQ when our sons were growing up and we have never and probably won't ever go to it. We went to the HDDR for the second time in like 22 years back in 2005 and both our grown sons were able to join us (they were 32 and 27 at the time), with one married and one still single and all five of us had a blast. We're all WDW veterans so we really got into it :lmao: :lmao: :cool1: :cool1: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Now that we're "empty nesters" we don't do character based dining except for the Castle which is just a neat place to eat, or things geared toward kids/families. We do like the CP and LTT, but because those are more a family type restaurant we don't go as often as we did.

lawnspecialties -- we are heading down in Thanskgiving (17th - 23rd)...so excited to be going back! (the kids would NOT hear of staying anywhere but the cabins -- I like to try new places -- not this time. I was out-voted!)
