Trying to get a reservation for HDD but only vacancies left are Category 3. Has anyone seated in Cat 3 and what are your opinions? Wondering wether to hold out for a Cat 2 when we arrive :confused3 :surfweb:

What dates can you go? could you change other meals around and try another night?
Always been in cat 1 or 2. Don't think there are any bad seats in the house but never tried cat 3 to know.

Cat 3 is in the balcony along the side - we have had a cat 2 balcony which faces the stage and it was good.

If you really want to go book the Cat 3 and keep checking periodically for a cat 2.

One year I missed booking our ADRs at 180 days as it was a last minute trip (well 6 weeks out!) and I just kept calling (before online booking) every day to check for the ressie I wanted and it worked as we got it in the end.

We will be there any time between may 26 and last night June 1st . All early shows - 5 & 715 are showing only cat 1 or 3 and think we need to pay excess for cat 1. Later Shows have cat 2 but think that too late for our 10yo. Thinking about booking cat 3 and checking for cat 2 when we get there 

All you can do is keep checking.
Our Son would have been fine age 10 for the later show but all children are different.

We did the middle sitting in Category 3 seating the very first time we went to see Hoop Dee Doo. It wasn't the best, but at least you were included. The guys do come upstairs to the balcony regularly throughout the show, so you don't feel excluded. We were even spoken to by Dolly and introduced to the room!

The difficult with cat 3 balcony, is that it is side on to the stage. You either sit facing the guys on the floor downstairs and having your view blocked by your own party, or you sit the other side and have you back to the main hall and then have to keep looking over your shoulder in order to eat and enjoy the show. Then, of course, depending on where you end up, there could also be a pillar blocking all or part of your view! LOL

I will try and dig out some of the photos I took from up on the balcony to give you an idea.

Two tips: 1) I would consider the later option. On DDP you can even get Cat1 seating on 9.30 sittings. 2) Keep checking back. Last year, I could not any seats for HDD at 6months out and was that way until about 3weeks before we went. In the end, the place was so empty that they used only half of the downstairs and no balcony whatsoever. There were so few of us that everytime you turned around, there was a character! They were crashing into each other, it was such a small, intimate space!
