Hello everyone.

I am taking my girls to WDW for the first time in Jan. I have made an ADR for Hoop de doo musical review during our stay.

I called Guest Services about something else the other day and the wonderful CM started making suggestions for dinner. He thought my girls would feel like princesses if they got to eat at California Grill or Narcoosee's (sp).

I need your feedback. My daughters are 6 and 7 and love fireworks. I think they would love seeing them at dinner time. I just am not sure if HDDMR is worth our visit or not.

Thanks!

Wow, talk about comparing apples and orange crates lol. I've done both. The highlight of CG is the view and the ability to watch Wishes from the roof top. It's an awesome experience. Food is exceptional. HDR is a great show! My son is 16 and still wants to go every time. Food is good. I took my sons to HDR when they were young and they loved it! If it was me, and it was once upon a time, I say HDR. CG is wonderful but HDR should appeal to them better, at this age.

I love both California Grill and HDDR. Both for compleatly different reasons. My girls have gone to HDDR many times and loved it. Food and show. I have been to CG many times and have not taken my girls because I don't think that they would appreciate the food. If they want to be treated like a princess take them to Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. I have done that twice with DD's and it's a hit.

I vote HDDR - it is a fun, fun show and my daughter and her cousins loved it (ages 5-9).

I agree with a PP, they are totally different experiences.
With a 6 and 7 yo I strongly recommend the HDDR. I took my own when they were that age and I have now been with my grandchildren when they were that age.
They loved it!!! It is a fun show and good food.
Ca Grille is very nice, but I would save it for when they are older and more apt to appreciate it.
Have a Great Trip

Thank you everyone!!! I love these boards so much. You all are terrific for sharing your thoughts.

I'd stick with the HDR. CA Grill is little more adult. If it's about the fireworks, just go into the MK. There's great spots just about everywhere.

I think Hoop de Doo is more fun for children (and some adults!!), Ca Grill has great sushi and a nice view of the castle. I don't think the fireworks viewing is that great, it's better from the park, but it is nice.

I think HDDR is the right choice. The show is entertaining, the food is plentiful and the beer (or wine or sangria) is flowing (:thumbsup2). I have done it many times since I was a kid. We skipped it this time around due to some other rather expensive dinner experiences, but we missed going. I think the girls will enjoy it more than CG.

We also went to CG on this trip and sadly it is quickly dropping on our list of Signatures. The sushi was not impressive (we can get much better sushi back here), the menu was on the boring side and our entrees were pretty bland. It has a different view of Wishes, but that is about all CG offers these days. We won't be going back anytime soon.

I love both but they are completely different. I agree with the previous posters, they will probably enjoy HDDMR more. You can watch the fireworks from MK.

CG is definitely more adult.

HDDR - if you want them to feel like princesses, try taking them to Akershus or Cinderella's Royal Table where they can mingle among them. Cali Grill is great for fireworks, but sophisticated not princessy

We went to the Hoop Dee Doo this past July 4th. Our girls are 5, 7 & 9 and they LOVED it--totally cracking up the whole time. I loved it. DH loved it. It was a ball. I think they have changed the ADR times for the show, but if you time it right, you can watch the fireworks from the FW beach. Depending on where you're staying, you can also take the boat from FW to the Contemp. and then monorail to the Poly for fireworks on that beach (another highlight of our trip). We were staying at FW in a cabin, so getting to and from the MK resorts was a breeze.

Have a great time!

I agree. For the princess affect, I suggest CRT, if you don't already have it booked. To me, that's the only "must do" for little girls. Akershus would be a good choice, if CRT is booked.
