Hi-

We just purchased into DVC last month and this is my first post. We are planning a trip to the VWL for the second week of January 06.

We saw that there was a discount to the 9:30PM Hoop Dee Do Review for DVC members and called Disney Dining last night to make reservations. We were told that the discount expires at the end of 2005.

I do realize that these things are not guaranteed and can be withdrawn at any time, but shouldn't the expiration date be posted on their website to let people know about this? How often are these "perks" changed? Every year, every month?

I know a lot of people on this board have been members for years so I am curious to know about how long "perks" are usually around and how often they are changed.

Thanks,

Cathy

Congratulations & Welcome Home!

HAPPY "MAGICAL" VACATIONING,

Some come and go but in general they are usually listed to expire the end of the year. Most are renewed as you approach the end of the end of the year and I would expect this one to be also. One can also get the discount with the DDE ($20% for 9:30 only). BTW, some have gotten the discount for other showings though it cannot be counted on.

Don't count on the web site at all. Most of the good information comes in the monthly bulletin or quarterly newsletter (or on the Dis Boards).

It seems to me that perks like that are usually only around for a few month period at a time. This one is typical and is probably explained in one of the publications I mentioned.

The Hood De Doo review perk has been around for years. I suspect it has to be renewed every year by DVC though, so it probably officialy expires at the end of the year, but will probably be renewed for 2006. These perks do come and go....some seasonally and some annually. The major ones are usually changed at the end of the year. There are some things that are around in some form all the time, and the Hoop De Doo has been one of them. That being said...I did hear a rumor that Hoop De Doo was going away completely. Not sure if it's true or not though...like most rumors, who knows?

It is true that sometimes perks take a little time to make it to the website. But it's fare more true that they are on the website or other listings and NOT on the papers you get when you check in. I would always print out the discount info from the website and take it with you when you go. If there's something you've seen otherwise that isn't on the website, copy that and take it as well.

I have a question....I have already booked HDDR for Oct '06. It's a very special occasion and want to be sure we don't end up in the balcony area again. So, since it's 2006, I couldn't apply any of the discounts, either DVC or DDE since they are never 100% sure the same perks will continue year after year. So, I have booked it, paid for it. How do I go about getting a refund when they 'formally' announce the discount? Do I just call back and they apply a refund to my cc? I have 4 seats booked so it would be a fair amount of money.

We did not make the reservation due to the lack of discount for the very reason stated above. I called member services and the Quality Assurance department at DVC and no one had any information to give me. (Four different people both at Disney Dining and DVC).

Thank you for all that responded. We will wait and see what happens in month or two. Since there are seven of us going, a 20% discount is a lot of money if it happens. We have been to the HDD several times in the past, so if we can't get a good table no biggie.

Thanks,

Cathy

Are you sure you PAID the fee or held it with a credit card? I thought thats all you do, and when you get there you pay it with the credit card on file or how ever you wish?

We are headed to VWL Oct 7 and have ressies for Hoop de on the 10th, the full amount was charged to our credit card. I think you can cancel prior to 48hrs and get a full refund.
