Hoop De Doo ???

GO! GO! GO!. Our family loved it. We have ressies for next April. It's the first thing my DH husband asked if we could do again, and he's totally NOT into planning.

Had to post since we all LOVVVVVED the hoop de doo review. When we went it was me, dh, dd 11, dd 2, and bil 13. We booked last minute since I wasn't aware of it's popularity so we had to do the latest show. We sat on the main floor with great seats even though we booked last minute and the time ended up working in our favor since dd took a two hour nap before we went. Everyone loved it even my 2yo. She didn't understand everything going on since she was little but alot of the servers came over to talk to her and gave her lots of attention and she ate it up. We all laughed so hard our stomaches hurt (literally). The 11&13yo have put it on our must do list as #1 for our next trip. I must admit when dh first mentioned it (he used to go as a kid) I thought it would be kinda cheesy and that it was kinda pricey but after going I'm so glad we did it and will include it in all our Disney trips reguardless of price. You know you did good when you can get preteens to laugh. Also I wanted to say that we were also served a salad, which me and dd loved. The chicken was great and dh said the ribs were great (since I don't eat them). The strawberry shortcake was delicious although we were pretty stuffed afterwards. The only thing my dd complained about was that they served the salad and then took it away when the rest of the food came out. It was in a big bowl to serve yourselves. Well once the chicken came out dd really wanted more salad and it wasn't there. Next time we'll just be sure to request that they leave it. They are super nice and accomidating so I'm sure it would not be a problem. We also sang that darned song the rest of the tip. LOL it's like being brainwashed. I'm singing it in my had now as I write this and my trip was over a year ago.

We went for the 1st time this past summer and really enjoyed it! Especially my twin niece and nephew, 7 years old, who were making plans to go again on their next trip as we were leaving.

Which show time would you recommend? :listen:

We love the HDD.

We've gone to both the 5:00 and 7:15 shows before (our 8th time is on tap for next June). If you go to the 5:00 show it kind of messes up your day as you have to leave whatever park you're at fairly early to get there on time. But the past few times we've planned the HDD on a down day 4-5 days into the trip. We sleep late, ride the water mouse boats or go to DTD and then after the show go to MK for the rest of the evening.

The 7:15 show allows you longer before the show, but when it's over there's not much left to do for the evening unless you head to PI or Jellyrolls.

Never done the 9:30 show. Always thought that would be too late to eat a big meal.

We went to the HDDR back in 2003 and loved it. We thought the food and show were fantastic. We are planning on going again next year.

We have reservations for 7:15 show. Hoping to see the Water Parade from the FW beach or maybe take the boat over to Magic Kingdom before heading back to CBR.

Anyone have experience with this? How's our timing for getting to see the water parade p/ the show?

If I remember correctly it should be good. Ft Wilderness is towards the end of the water parade so I believe the HDD will be done early enough for you to see it. As far as going back to MK I guess it depends on how late MK is open that night. I know the last time we did the HDD MK was having it's EMH and the place was packed. We walked around for a bit and left without riding a thing it was so crowded.

I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it - as some people do seem to like it, but it is certainly not value for money - unless it has improved a lot.

The show is fun for kids and the fort wilderness setting is nice. But the quality of the food is appalling - and as for as much as you can eat or drink - when we were there, the waitresses were rushed off their feet, and we weren't even offered a second glass of wine, let alone anything else.

I would go with the mindset that you are just paying for the show, and the food is an added extra, and you won't be disappointed.

As with any Disney restaurant or attraction, there will be people who like it and people who don't. I always recommend trying something new and seeing for yourself, rather than relying on the preferences of others. But for those who are seeking numbers, the HDDR tends to generate way more responses from folks who like it than from folks who don't. Just keep in mind that you're really paying for the show, not for an evening at V&A's. The food isn't the reason that the Hoop Dee Doo Review is the longest running show at WDW.

Have a great time!

I am interested in the HDDR also, but I heard if you do not have ressies 2 yr's in advance you sit in a balcony? Is it still fun, from the balcony?

well... before you could only make ressies only 90 days in advance. now, they changed it, it is 120 days in advance. so... don't worry... you can't even make ressies 2 years in advance.

here are some of our HDDR pics:

always try everything at least once, and then decide for yourself if you like it or not... have fun, and enjoy!

This is from Deb Wills site:
Reservations can be made up to 2 years ahead of time! Tables are assigned in the order in which reservations are made. There is 2 tiered seating...the main floor and upstairs in the balcony. Shows can sell out during busy times of the year. Tickets and Table assignments are available 5 days in advance at your Disney Resort Guest Services location.

We made our reservations for next November this past June, so, yes you can make them 2 years in advance.

Not true. Hoop Dee Doo ADRs can be made 2 yrs in advance. When we went in Sept '05 (free dining) I made ADRs in June we were seated to the left side of the stage about 4 tables back. We went on a spur of the moment trip 2 weeks later getting ADRs the night before and we were seated just 2 more tables further back. Great table we got personnal attention from 2 of the cast. Six Bits and Miss Claire DD12 loves Miss Claire especially her laugh.
