After deciding to pretty much "wing it" on ADR's, we're thinking of taking dtwins to Hoop De Doo our next trip. We haven't been since the late 80's though...is it the same show? Would my 4yo's enjoy it?

Thanks!

We go to Hoop De Doo every year! We love it. As far as I know the show has not changed. I just went in December with my 4 year old son. Alot of the jokes are way over his head but he had a good time clapping to the music! I don't know about your twins, but my son is a very picky eater and they had no problem bringing him a grilled cheese sandwich. I think your kids will really enjoy it.

I had to go to Hoop de doo in July - kicking and screamimg. I did not hate it at all. The food was pretty good, the show sort of funny in a corny way (harmless), but it was a slight pain getting there. For some reason, we seem to "just miss" the boats! Your 4yo will like it... :rockband:

Hoop Dee Doo!
Hoop Dee Doo!
Definately go to the
Hoop Dee Doo!

I love this show.

I can still hear that song....too funny how it sticks in your head! :goodvibes
I think we'll take that up...my kids LOVED Biergarten and so I thought why not? Dh and I have been three times and loved it, but wanted to be sure it was the same show or similar anyway.

thanks! :)

We go every year with our twins (ib) and their little brother. This year we'll have 2 four year olds and a 2 1/2 year old w/ us. They love the noise, the music & the food. They especially love the washboards!

I TOTALLY forgot about the washboards...my kiddos will LOVE that!!!!! I'm calling Disney right now!! :)

We just went a few weeks ago and my 6 year old loved it. The jokes are over her head but it's all clean fun. She loved the washboard and the clapping. It was good clean fun. My MIL even enjoyed herself.

It's a definite must do for each trip from now on.

Hoop Dee Doo ~

I just booked the HDDR for June 23. I got cat 1 seats. I love that they have differenct categories now. Last time, years ago, we were stuck upstairs and they were terrible seats. It was a good show of what we saw of it so we are going again.

omg I went back in...'82? all I remember were the washboards and strawberry shortcake (not eating it, but I seem to recall they had signs or something)...hey, I was 6! lol

about not getting a Category 1 if you are on DDP? Sound a little strange to me. Should I keep calling back? I told them I didn't want it unless I got a Category 1...honestly the CM was a bit rude! First time ever I had that type of call. :confused3

DDP folks cannot get a Cat 1 seat. It is Cat 2 and 3 only. You could pay OOP for it. We aren't on the plan so we bought Cat 1. We are using DDE but even that wouldn't give us a discount unless we did the late show which we didn't want.

Thanks, I posted my ? on the DDP as well. Disney has to make their money somewhere and this show is expensive. I still disagree with the policy but it's certainly not the end of the world. :) :)

We just went in late Dec. and I was never asked about a Category. Is it only if you are on the DDP ? Plus, what is the purpose for the different catergories ? I made our ADR's in late August/early September for Dec. 17th. After moving our park days around about a million times I then re-scheduled our HDDR day for 12/23. We had the BEST seats. Smack in front of the stage just a few tables back.

They just started categories. You can pay to get a better seat. Before you got what they gave you. We went once and ended up in the upstairs and couldn't see anything unless we turned around the entire show. Now you can choose what tier by paying for it. We were never going to do the HDDR again because of the way it was done. Now we are since we could pay for a good seat. It is for everyone and not just DDP folks. It's just that DDPers can only get tier 2 or tier 3 with their credits. They can't get the best seats.

Have they cnanged it now so you can only book 6 mo. in advance? I seem to remember reading somewhere about this. I used to book as soon as we had made our room request but held off based on this change..smjj

On our last trip I booked the Hoop De Doo for our family. We had never been. My DH was concerned about the price and the fact that our children were 13 and 11 and he thought they would so not want to be there. I started worrying thinking they were going to be rolling there eyes the whole time with the corny jokes.

Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The kids loved it. They were laughing so hard at the jokes and musical numbers. We had a great time!

Not trying to hijack thread but does the 180+10day policy work for HDDR as well?

Yes that is true for the 180+10. Someone posted the seating chart somewhere for it on another Hoop De Doo thread.
