We had booked it once and the kids didn't really want to go, so I canceled it:(
I really want to go and dh doesn't really care, he's just going witht he flow. Do you think once we got there the kids would really enjoy it??? They are 9, 9, and 15. We will have the free dining plan, but we will probably pay oop for it if I decide to go. I have a feeling they will really like it and this is our blow out trip (15 year old doesn't want to "hang" with the parents, lol). So...what do you think?? Should I just not book it because all 3 kids don't want to go? Just about every adr I've made..I've made with them in mind...maybe I'm being selfish, but I really want to see it.

BOOK IT !!!! Once they get there and the music starts, everyone gets into it.

Have fun

I know the flames are comming my way but I have to say stay away. We went with DD 9 and DS 6 last year and they both were very disappointed. I and DW did not like the food either and, unless you like fried chicken and ribs, I would advise against this very expensive meal.

We took our then 16 year old for his second trip to Hoop Dee Doo. He was so hating the prospect. He loved everything about it and almost jerked my arms off getting that washboard out of my hands for the finale. If this is important to you and it's the only thing you want, talk to your family and ask them to do this for you.

BTW - that now grown up son will be bringing his new family back to Hoop Dee Doo next time we take them there. His request.

Have I got a story for you!! :goodvibes My oldest son has been going to WDW since he was 3. He's now 17. When he hit the 14-15 age range he went through that "I'm too cool to do anything with family and enjoy it" stage. Well the summer he was 15 he brought one of his friends (also 15) with us for a week at WDW. He had been walking around all week giving us that roll your eyes at everything attitude  :sad2: and generally being a "downer" on everything we were doing. He really complained when he found out we were going back to HDDR. He had done this dinner show many times previously. He sat outside Pioneer Hall with his arms crossed slouched low on the bench and practically pouted. Well.....it couldn't have been 10 minutes in to the show that he's trying his utmost not to laugh but he finally couldn't help himself and he and his friend had one of the best nights of their lives. They were laughing and carrying on and sang the Hoop-Dee-Doo song for the rest of the trip. They both still break out in song every once in a while. Take your kids to this show. I really don't think you'll regret it. By the way, we also had a 2 year old at that show and he loved it too.

My family and I enjoyed it but it's some thing we only need to do once. The show is really good. lots of corny jokes, etc, etc. The food is mediocre. fried chicken and ribs, corn on the cob. lots of it though. You're family will get into it once your their since the actors really get the audience involved

I'm sure you've planned stuff the kids will enjoy, so don't forget to plan stuff for you, too!

The kids will end up enjoying it. It is silly, but funny. Just don't make them ride Winnie the Pooh.

Go, go, GO! :)

I can't really say about your kids, but I took my 2 girls when they were 11 (1 month shy of 12) and 9. My older DD, who is now 14, requested to go back to Hoop Dee Doo this trip! My now 11 y.o. also wants to go back. It has been a few years, but everytime someone says "Yahoo" for some reason in the house, EVERYONE will say, "Yahoo, Hoop Dee Doo"!

I recommend going once and see if you like it. I just wanted to do it to experience it once, not thinking we would probably go back. So, I was really surprised that the family wants to do it again. Even my DH, when I told him I booked HDDR again for this trip said, "Good. I liked it there." and not "Are you crazy?? That's $200!!" which is the reaction I expected.

Ok, I booked it. We are cancelling our lunch at Garden Grill ( if by the time we go, we decide we want it, we'll just see if its available, if not, that's ok too). We are going to pay for the Fantasmic pkg oop and then we booked the hoop de doo.
We are going August 30 at the 7:15pm show. I'm pretty excited about it! Kids aren't but hoping they will enjoy it once we get there:)
Thanks everyone!

This sounds like my son! I'm hoping he'll enjoy himself once we get down there. I told him we would go to disneyquest and he's pretty well psyched up for that.

I bet they will enjoy it once they get there. We went last year and when planning our trip for this year that is the one thing my DH requested we do again. My son was 6 last year and we all had a great time. We had the dining plan but paid out of pocket for it. It was worth it and I have great pictures of my DH and DS having a hoop-dee-doo time. :Pinkbounc :woohoo:
