Can anyone tell me how people are picked to be in the show?

I have been many, many times, arriving both early and late and have never been able to figure how they are picked. Not that i want to be in it, but would love someone in our party to be picked...

I have no idea, but when we were there in July, the guy next to me refused to be part and they just grabbed me instead. I got to play the part of Davies angel.

they just pretty much pick randomly from what i have seen. I have been a lot and have never seen a pattern.

Participants are picked by the performers, not prior to the show. I think they are basically looking for folks who are into the show, or who look like real "straight men" to play off of. It certainly doesn't hurt to be downstairs and not under the balconies, though.

My guess would be (as a previous volunteer part time cast member for HDDR) that you get picked based on being into the show and having a good time. I am 1100 miles from home, I dont care if I make a fool of myself.

I have also heard that it doesn't hurt if you bear a resemblance to Santa, and visit during Christmas time.

I think if there is a group attending the show, they may make prior arrangements. When we were there with our kids' marching band (we had about 120 people in our group) the band director was chosen for the "pink ballerina" at the end of the show. Somehow I don't think that happened by chance. It was funny watching the kids from the balcony. I think every kid videoed that part of the show with their phone. A good time was had by all. I think the other people chosen for the other parts were not from our group, so we didn't dominate the show.

It's not a ballerina! It's a fairy....errr, what am I saying!

OOPS!

Sorry, my bad.:flower3:
I was going by memory....I forgot about the wings! I did remember the pink dress though.

By the way, you make a lovely fairy.:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Is it worth it to get the premium seating or Tier 1 i think they call it.

I think so. Our first visit was tier 2, and though it was enjoyable I vowed to go tier 1 from then on. You feel more like a part of the show... and are more likely to be part of the show.

The folks who get reservations early, like 180 days out, get the tables closest to the stage. I got resies at the earliest date possible for our last three HDDRs. All three times we were seated at the stage. I saw the cast girls looking at my SIL and obviously sizeing him up for the brave Indian scout. He was chosen 2 out of three times. The 3rd time one girl pointed him out to the other who pointed out that he was holding my sleeping infant granddaughter. They always look for a twenty something guy, good looking, strong. He fits the bill and wears tan cargo shorts with brown t-shirt or something similar. You get the idea. The can can dancer is a twenty something good looking girl. Again she looks the part. The Texas Ranger or Rangerett is a cute kid with a big smile about 8 or 9 years old. Davy's angel is a big man, usually gray hair. If you sit near the stage and have someone in your party that " looks the part", be sure this person can be seen by the cast and hopefully make eye contact. chances are pretty good to be picked because most folks just don't look the part or are not noticed. I need to review my home movies but I think they choose the guest "cast members" while they are doing the what state are you from song.

FWIW, they chose my son for the Ranger when we were visiting during my Birthday. What a great gift! I LOVE HDDR!
