Is this something my 6yo ds might like? Is the food good? What is the best time to go? we are thinking about going on 3/7, any sugestions? Also, are there any other fun things to do at the wilderness campground?
A 6 y.o. may enjoy some of the comedy and slapstick -- some of it will go over his/her head. But there's enough activity geared toward all ages that anyone of almost any age would enjoy it.
The food -- JMO, but I found it mediocre. The chicken tasted like warmed-up KFC on a bad day; the ribs were o.k. I didn't care for the corn at all. Salad was very good; served on chilled plates. The dessert was wonderful (strawberry shortcake).
If you like fried chicken and ribs you will enjoy this dinner show. The food has always been excellent, and it seems to appeal to all ages, even younger kids. We never miss a meal here when we go to WDW.
DH and I thought the food was "okay" and the show was rather cornball. My DD 8 and DS 5 didn't like the food very much at all, but they absolutely loved the show! They thought it was funny and they were thrilled when one of the couples pulled up a chair at our table and sang a love song. DD and DS continued to sing "Hoop Dee Doo Hoop Dee Doooooo" for weeks afterwards
My 5 1/2 year old loved the show. He was in a bad moood that night and tried so hard not to show he was having fun. Him hiding his laughter was almost as funny as the show. He just couldnt do it. This was our 2nd time seeing it in 2 years and we still found it hilarious. I had tears running down my face.
As for the food, we love it. I think its the best fried chicken Ive ever had...way better than KFC. The ribs were very tasty, but a little tough. Bread, corn and salad were all really good too. I thought dessert was ok. If your kids dont eat that food, like mine, they can order an alternative meal ahead of time(mine got mac & cheese). And unlimited soda, beer & sangria didnt hurt either.
I think your 6 year old will love it. Our DS thought it was the funnest thing ever. We all thought the food was very good. It is southern-country style. Our DS is very picky and I didn't think he would eat much but he ate as much as we did. We had three loaves of the bread. They just keep bringing the food. If the cost was not so high, this would be a must do each trip. We plan to go every other trip.
I think your DS will love it. We went two years ago when my DS's were 7 and 4 and they loved it! As a matter of fact, we will be back again this year on March 7 at 7:15. I would go ahead and book if your interested because it usually sells out .
