We did HDD a couple of years ago (our kids were 4 & 2 at the time). We're going again and thinking about doing this show again. This time, our kids will be 7, 5 & 2 - would you do it again? or do something different like Fantasmic???

TIA :goodvibes

Since the first time we saw the HDDR, we've been hooked! We HAVE to do this every trip! It's something we really look forward too. It doesn't hurt that we have the DDE and get 20% off, but we'd pay the full price anyway.

Did you mean Fantasmic? If you did, and you eat at table service restaurants anyway, you're really not paying anything more then you would if you just ate at the designated restaurant. The FDP just entitles you to definite seating at the show, and you can just wait for the show anyway if you'd like. It's just kind of like waiting for Illuminations or the fireworks.

Hope that helps and enjoy whatever you decide to do! :)

We'd see it every trip if we had the $. I've seen it 3 times and have yet to get bored.

I assume you're talking about the Fantasmic Dinner package? I don't necessarily see that as "special" like HDDR because anyone can walk in and see Fantasmic for free (with park admission of course), the package just gets you a reserved spot off to the side so you don't have to line up as early. And of course dinner, but most people would eat dinner prior anyways. So those two things are hard to compare for me.

We Hoop dee doo every time we go; only missed it on last trip. This trip will be the fifth time for me. The show hasn't changed, nor has the food. But its FUN FUN FUN!!!

DH and I went to HDDR in 2004 and 2005 and I will making an ADR for HDDR tomorrow as we will be 180 days out for our November trip!!!

I am glad I read this thread...we are going to HDDR for the first time on our next trip,. Now I am excited!

HDDR is great. Fantasmic is fantastic. I don't consider them mutually exclusive.

Fantasmic is free with park admission--thus, we go almost every time. It has changed slightly over the years. Since this doesn't cost you in $ or credits, I'd definitely do Fantasmic. Whether you do the dinner package or not is really a different decision.

HDDR is well worth doing. However, consider whether you want to spend the $ or credits. Since it has been several years, I'd go for it.

Join us in the bunch that do HDD everytime we visit the parks! We have APs so we get the discount and that helps out a bunch, but we wouldn't miss it. All we talk about is the all you can drink sangria until we get there!! (We kind of have a contest to see how many pitchers we can go through... I usually consume about 1 on my own!) :lmao:

I am a multiple HDDR'er! I didn't go on the last trip because I thought the kids were getting to old for it and they might be too cool! Boy, was everyone ticked off at me.

We do HDD every trip, the first night. Kicks off our WDW vacation!

I'd take it over Fantasmic any day. But I don't like Fantasmic. :)

Count us in. We're going for our 8th time in June. It's always a highlight of the trip for the kids. They're 17 and 14 now and still love it. And my DS17 is bringing his DGF along which will be her first time at HDDR so we're all excited to have a HDD virgin along.

My daughter and my niece were 7 years old when we took them to HDDR and they loved it! They really got into the humor and the "story"-it was fun to watch them enjoy it so much-they would just laugh and laugh! Your children are at just the right age in my opinion-except try for the early seating-since they're so young and it's a fairly long show, they won't be so tired. I think we just slept in that day and swam at the hotel so they could stay up and not pass out! Have fun!

I thought you could make HDDR reservations two years out. Is it now 180 days?

Yes, it did change to 180 days for HDDR also. I believe it was either end of last year or beginning of this year. (I was looking for the thread on the subject but can't find it right now.)

We've also done the HDDR many times. I think the last was in 2003, planning on it for our Dec 2006 trip. We'll have a group of 12 should be a blast.

It will be our 2nd time in September. We went last september and had a blast! It osunds stupid, but our faces hurt from laughing so much! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: The kids (10,6,4) loved it!
