My kids have been asking about the hoop de doo, I'm leary of spending over $200 for dinner for one night!!! We could probably do two character dinners for the price of this...any input? Would a man that hardly ever goes to disney not enjoy this??

We just got back and all 10 of us LOVED it! Even those in our party who were(shall we say) less "Disney excited" than the rest. Our ages range from 3 to 58 and we all enjoyed it.

The highlight for us was having my 16yo daughter picked to be the Can-Can dancer in the finale. It was extra special since I was chosen to do the same thing when I was 14!!!

Yup, the show is corny, slapstick humor, but the performers are EXCELLENT and the show is so much fun! I say go for it! But be warned.....the Hoop-De-Doo song will stick with you forever!!!! :teeth:

YES! YES! YES! a million times YES!! it's one of the best meals/entertainment on property in my family's opinion... and even a non-disney-fied person will LOVE it!

I think it one of those Disney things you have to do at least once... I agree with SeaShelley said... a bit corny, but fun just the same..

We did it when the children were small and we have never done it again, they are now grown ups, but I still think it is a fun thing to see. The floor show is entertaining....

Hi,

We have been five times and enjoyed it the last time just as much as the first. Yes, it is a bit on the high side dollar wise, but it is all you can eat and drink (beer, wine, sangria) with tip included. We think the food is very good, but it is the show that keeps us going back - it is extremely well done, with a lot of audience participation thrown in. Enjoy!!!

YES! Don't just think of it as $200 for a meal, although the meal is good (not incredible but very good) and plentiful, you also have to take into consideration the great entertainment. You also get unlimited drinks....and that does include wine and beer. And....the tip is also included!
I our visit to WDW that we did the "hoop" it was my wife's and my DDs' favorite part of the trip. You just must try it at least once!
Enjoy!!!

We used to do Tony's as our first dinner, but as we feel the meals aren't as good as they used to be it has been replaced with the Hoop-Dee-Doo. I even went with my best friend after my freshman year of college, it was our "big meal" other than the splurge at Le Cellier. Now, my best friend and I thrive on corniness, so it was perfect. It is definitely corny, but totally worth the extra money.

We love it so much we went twice on our honeymoon. The show is very good, a little corny but nice family fun, and the food is really good too.

My DH and I went for the first time last year on our first night at WDW!! What a great way to start off the vacation!! We will be there again next Wednesday and are really looking forward to it!!! (Only booked our trip late September so were unable to get first night or we would have started our trip off this way again!)

::MickeyMo YES YES YES! Ever since experiencing it for the first time, it's a must do for us on every trip! We love it! ::MinnieMo

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've yet to go. Dh didn't want to spend the money, ds has never been interested. however, I'd like to go just to see what it's all about. Once dh heard from friends that they'd never spend the money on it again, that did it for him. I look at the big picture, it may be overpriced or ds may not eat much but it looks like fun. DH is more practical with the money aspect... :confused3

We did HDDR in '03. Dd was almost 11 at the time. She loved it. Dh and I liked it well enough. But, dd decided that was where she wanted to have her big 13th birthday!!! So, I have it booked for Oct '06 already. We will be there with another mom and her dd who is also going to be 13, but the day after we get home. Just the ladies for this trip. I'm sure that the moms are going to be happy with the free flowing wine...even if it isn't a 'great year'!!! I would say you should try it once. It's not just dinner but an experience!!! We did the Luau the year before and wouldn't even consider doing that again, but don't mind doing HDDR again.

We wouldn't do the luau again, either. It was ok once but not again.

If you have the DDE card, you get 20% off HDDR.

We are AP holders for the first time and can get the DDE card for $50. We will save $40 on HDDR next Nov. alone, not to mention all the dining this trip and next. So it will be well worth it.

We would like to try the Hoop-de-Doo our next visit, but the day before we are to check-in at our resort at Disney. Does anyone know if this can this be done?

Thanks!!!

:Pinkbounc Absolutely. :Pinkbounc We do it the first night. There isn't a better way to kick off a WDW vacation!

I've yet to go with anyone who doesn't thoroughly enjoy it. Even the 13-year old who thought he was too cool for Disney and never smiles (braces) couldn't help but smile!

If you like ribs, fried chicken, corn, beans, and strawberry shortcake then the food is excellent. But it is the show that does it.

I did the Luau once, and that was enough. Too much juvenile story and not enough dancing.

Go, go, go!

I think you can get the 20% off with the AP also. But, both are only for the late show. I booked my 4 reservations for Oct '06 almost a year ago. When I asked about the discount, I was told I couldn't apply it because they never know what discounts are being offered from year to year. So, I have to call back in Dec and have the discount applied. I have both AP and DDE and will be going to the late show......hopefully I don't have to rebook because I really need those up front seats in order to fulfill my dd's 13th birthday wish!!!
