Hoop De Doo for 40th bday - should I order a cake?

I'm celebrating my 40th birthday at Hoop De Doo on March 12. I'm wondering if I should order a cake? It'll just be me and my Mom. And I know we get strawberry shortcake. If it were you, would you order a cake?

That is a lot of food to eat there! Did you tell them you were celebrating a birthday? Sometimes they seat you better and put you in front to get picked on! And who knows what else they will do?

It's your 40th birthday and you'll be at DISNEY! Of course you should treat yourself even more Plus, they make such a deal out of birthdays at the restaurants.

Dessert is brought out near the end. You will be rushed to cut and serve it. Why not have a cake delivered to one of the hotel bars where you can relax and enjoy it with an evening cocktail or champagne if you really want a cake.

I wouldn't order a cake at the Hoop Dee Doo Review. As the previous poster said, you would be rushing to finish up and leave. If you are at Disney more than 1 night and would like to order a cake to celebrate your birthday, why not do it the night before or the night after?

We were just at the Hoop last Friday nite.

No way would I order a cake.....there is wayyyy too much food there.

I would go for fruity cocktails at the Poly so you could then go out and watch the fireworks. If they won't send it to the bar I am sure you could pick it up from the host stand at Kona Cafe. I haven't actually done this, but I don't see why it would be any different to have a cake delivered to a bar verses a restaurant. The bars serve bar snacks so they would have plates, forks and napkins.

Personally I find the cake to be kinda blah, I would probably bring some candles from home and stop by the bakery in France for yummy cupcakes/pastries and bring the fancy pastries and candles to the bar with me.

HDDR serves you all the food you can eat, plus beer. Then they bring out an excellent Strawberry Shortcake. A cake on top of that would go to waste for sure. Enjoy another evening, and be sure to let the CM's know it's your bd celebration....in the year of celebrations, never know what they will do for ya.

I second a lot of the opinions on here... Don't do it. The Hoop De Doo Revue offers a HUGE quantity of food. Every dish seems supersized (YUM!), and the desert is such a treat in itself. The huge dessert dishes also appear near the very end of the stage show, so you probably wouldn't have time to finish THAT and a slice of cake too, you know? Everybody leaves the theater right after the final scene. A cake might go to waste if you had it delivered to the table... I would rather enjoy it at the hotel, where you can enjoy it at your own pace. (I recall that the cake might even be less expensive if you order it through your resort's chef.)

They will absolutely celebrate your VIPs birthday in OTHER ways... just let the CMs, your waiter AND the performers know that you have a birthday to celebrate. They are REALLY good about getting it some attention! There are plenty of opportunities to mention it.

I did tell them it was my 40th birthday when I booked. And we got category 1. So I am sure there will be some attention given to my birthday. And if not, I will be drinking enough beer that I wont care. It's been months since I last had anything to drink that was alcoholic so 2 beers will be my limit

We will be doing HDDR in June and I am ordering a cake - not for a birthday but as a special graduation surprise for DH. He will be finishing up his MBA a week before we leave and starting his doctorate not far from when we get back home.

DH is very allergic to strawberries and our oldest DD does not care for them - so the shortcake is out for the two of them. I thought this would be a nice surprise.

We will be staying at the VWL - and just bring whatever cake is left over with us.
