Hoop de doo dinner show for 2.5 year old?

Has anyone tried taking a child this young to the show? We also have a 4.5 year old who I think would enjoy it.

Hi... Our DD who was 2.5 when we went, loved the show. Almost a year later she still talks about it and remembers different parts of the show. (It helps that we have pictures from that night). You have to judge for yourself it your daughter can sit through the show. Since it is a dinner show it is broken up very well with food inbetween and audience particiation.
We did put our daughter in a highchair (she is small), but that helps keep her in her seat and allowed her to see the show easily.

Our 2 1/2 year old, 8 year old and 10 year old all loved it! I would say everyone should do it at least once! There are pony rides for $3 and you can't beat that!

We went on our trip in September. My kids, ages 2 and 6, loved it. The 2 year old has been singing the song every day ever since. Definitely go.

Last trip we took our kids when 4 and 15 months. Both of them absolutely LOVED it, especially our toddler. I think a 2yo will do wonderfully. Lots of movement, singing, dancing, and most of it in fairly short spurts.

Our older dd loved the Hoop de Doo at 22 months and between the age of 2-3yo.....the music and laughter really held her attention.

We went last November, and my kids (6, 4, 2) absolutley loved the show! My 2 yr old DD was dancing with Minnie and having a good ole time!

My daughter was 4 last year when we went.....SHE LOVED IT! I think that some of the jokes are a little hard to get if you are little, mostly for the parents. But it is really corney! That is why kids love it so much. My husband thought it was over priced.....BUT he is a cheap skate! I really enjoyed the songs and music, and the characters were really good. My daughter even got a couple of autographs and pictures with them when they came by. We stayed in the balcony right in the very middle. Great seats! We didn't get a whole lot of interaction, but some of the characters made it up there. It was my birthday and they announced it to everyone, they do that with anniversaries and honeymooners too! The songs do tend to stick in your head. I remember last year singing them in my head for at least a couple of weeks. Even now, while typing this I am singing the HOOP-DEE-DOO song.

Hi, I just made ressies for the Hoop-Dee-Doo for Nov. 27th. I went for the 1st time last year with my at the time 1 1/2yr old son and my 2 1/2yr old daughter and they both liked it. Towards the end my son started falling asleep but that's because we had to do the 9:30 showing!! I did want to ask txgirl where were they doing the pony rides at? I didn't see them when we were there although we were running late and were in a hurry to get there!! If they do them then i'll make it a point to get there early enough to do the pony rides!!!

I just returned from WDW with a 7 month old baby. We got a discounted price on the late Hoop dee doo Review show. Before we arrived we were really regretting taking the cheap price for the 9:30/10:00 show since our son's bedtime is usually 7:30 or 8:00. He cried on the way to the show (tired of the car seat), and hardly smiled while waiting outside. My wife and I were convinced that we would get about 2 minuted into the show and then have to start trading off holding him at the back of Pioneer Hall or even outside. It just didn't look good.

But once we got him inside, it was the strangest thing. He started by really taking to the metal dishes (cool on his teething gums I think) and perking up. And when the show started with the loud noises, singing and shouting people, applause etc. little Hayden got about as excited as I've ever seen him. As the performers started the loud singing and dancing (we were right up front) you could see the expression changing on his face into what I thought was going to be a frown than a scared cry, but after a second of hesitation it was a wide eyed beaming smile, followed by vigorous arm flapping. Then laughter. For me it was better than the show itself.

Now I can't say that this would be typical for all children that young, but we made it through the whole dinner and show (until about 11:30 PM I think) without one complaint or cry and a whole lot of smiles. What a relief.

The Hoop Dee Doo is one of our FAVORITE things to do in Disney, so OF COURSE we are bringing our DS.

In fact, we are bringing him there to celebrate his 1st birthday !!!

If you get there early they will encourage you to have your family photo taken out in front of the "saloon" and directly to the left of that there is a barn area. Ask the people there taking the pictures and they can direct you to the person running the pony rides. A fun and cheap thing to do!

My son went last year when he ws 19 months old. He did great! You'll have a blast. We are goin again this jan. now with our 2 1/2 year old and 9 month old.

I had to add to this thread. We just came back from WDW and did the Hoop Dee Doo just last night. Our DS was TERRIFIED. He HATED all the loud singing and cried and sat in my lap the whole night. We finally had to leave because he was so freaked

You win some, you lose some. I guess you never know how they'll deal with new experiences until you try. You'll just have to go again in a few years. I'm sure he'll love it then.
