I was reading the bug bite thread and am now a little concerned. We are scheduled for a 5pm HDDR ADR in early July. My questions are:

1. Isn't it an indoor show?
2. If yes... do you really get bitten during the show/meal??
3. Or...would we only want bug spray if we did the hayride?
4. Is the hay possibly why people get nibbled? Would a private carriage ride be a better option?
5. From the WL in general, would we need bug spray on the transportation boats?

Thanks in advance!

HDDR is an inside show - maybe people were saying that they got bitten on the way?

Ah - I'm rereading your post - ok, if you also go on a hayride there might be a mosquite issue.

We've been to WDW in July and August and never gotten bitten by anything.
Well - anything but the DISNEY bug!

I always throw a bottle of bug spray in my bag and we often will spritz some on before heading out at night, esp if we are walking the grounds. Disney or not, bugs are around!

I have no idea about what others have said regarding HDDR and bug bites, that's new to me, but HDDR is inside a building and we've never had a problem getting bit coming or going. If you want to do late night stuff outside, like the hayride, it wouldn't hurt to spray some on just in case.

I was just at Hoop-Dee-Doo a few days ago. I'm a freakin' magnet for mosquitos. I have been amazed that I have yet to get my first bite on this trip. HDD is inside. A bit of waiting around outside for the show to start but we had no problems.

We have camped at FW in all four seasons, and are amazed by the lack of bugs! Might not hurt to have rhe spray on the hay ride in July I guess.

Having gone to the HDDR many many times, have never been bitten, its inside. But on the hayride, whether from the hay or just the area, we encountered them slow flying, skin eating bugs that make a good welt and itch like nuts. We never thought about repellant, left it in the room, never do that again, and the only cure was ammonia for the itch. You scratch till raw and blood flows and itch some more. Bites last along time too. We encountered the same bugs on the sand beaches in the evening around the resort pools, we called them sand fleas or mites. Same welt and itch.

Boy Scout motto, be prepared, take the bug juice everywhere and bring some ammonia if you get a bite to ease the itch. Pharmisist said use ammonia, its the active ingredient in commercial itch relief ointment but alot cheaper.
