Hoop De Doo and Backyard BBQ Please help!

planning where we want to eat for our trip next year and we have stumbled across Hoop De Doo and Backyard BBQ. We have no idea what these are, what food is served, ive heard there is audience participation is it compulsory? is the alcohol included if you use DDP? is it worth 2 credits?

At HDDR, the food is basic--fried chicken, corn, potatoes, etc. You can check for a current menu on allears.net. For me, HDDR is so not worth it. I'm not a hoe-down kind of girl, and felt it was a wasted evening. I know a lot of people like HDDR, so this is just my opinion.

2. I think neither require audience participation at HDDR you are sitting at tables and the performers can come up you. At MBBBQ you have to leave your seat to be involved.

3. Its included no matter how you pay.

4. That's up to you but from reading these boards most would say HDDR is, MBBBQ not so much.

While I haven't been to HDD, my younger children LOVED MBYBBQ. I have 4 boys from 7-11 in age, and the 7 yr olds absolutely had a blast dancing with the characters. When the band takes a break, there is a performer who does rope tricks, which brought all my kids to the stage to watch.

While the food isn't worth 2 credits on it's own, I think the kids enjoyment of the show and characters was completely worth it for us.

as we are using the DDP we have a choice of tier 2 or 3, as we dont like being chosen for things like audience participation which would be better or if we choose tier 3 do we compromise our view?

We love HDDR. It is a must do every trip. We go ther first night of our visit everytime. We love the food (delish fried chicken and sangria) and the show. Yes, it is corny and goofy but it is very family friendly. They are very good about including everyone in the show so the tier does not really matter. Just give them a "no thanks' nod and they will move on. We have never done the BBQ, we always go in the winter and they have not had it due to weather.

My wife and I have been to the HDDR twice and always paid for Tier 1 so that we could be close to the action. Both times we were seated in the front, center table right at the stage and loved it! If you are restricted to Tiers 2 and 3, you should know that Tier 2 is the last row of tables on the main floor, as well as the rear balcony seating. Tier 3 is the side balcony seating.

In either case, your interaction will be minimal. They tend to focus on the tables that are sitting closer to the stage. Also, I think the view from the balcony (guaranteed with Tier 3) would probably be better than the last row of tables (possible with Tier 2). I would just be concerned about the food and drink service up there. Someone else may be able to comment on that part of it.

HDDR is definitely the most expensive fried chicken we've ever had... and definitely worth it to us. If you are still unsure, I would recommend that you check out the youtube videos to get a feel for what the meal is like.

We actually prefer tier 2. We love the elevated tables just inside the door. We have always felt included with the cast and have been sung to a couple of times. We have also sat in tier 1. It is ok but I don't really think it is worth the difference in $. Try a higher tier and then if you love it go back another trip and do 1.

Never done the BBQ but my family enjoyed the HDDR enough to do it twice in 3 trips. The chicken is really good. I thought the ribs were a little smokey for my tastes, the corn bread is very good. The show is corny but fun and my teenage twins loved it.
