Hooked after just one cruise

To say things went perfectly for our first cruise, would be an understatement. The weather, the staff, our own health, it just couldn't have been better. Because this was our first attempt at cruising, we decided to go with the 3 night. This really did work out great for us. For anyone else who's "testing the waters" so to speak, I'd highly recommend this or the 4 night.

I've spent today looking over calendars and schedules for the next 2 years trying to figure out when I can get on board again. Next April we have plans to attend a friends wedding in Ireland. We want to make this an extended trip and also visit England and France while we're there. That pushed me up into 2006. Now I'm thinking that if I have this much time to plan and pay for it, why not go all out? So, I went ahead and sent a fax to the inventory control folks and asked for our names to be placed on the waitlist for a mid-ship category 3 stateroom, 7 night, for the Christmas cruise. Am I completely nuts? The Wonder was full for our May cruise and I didn't feel over-crowded at all. For us New Englanders, I'm guessing that the weather probably won't be an issue either. Anything above freezing will feel pretty good to us. Just wondering though if they heat the pools? Also, for anyone who has sent in a fax request, do they acknowledge receipt and about how far out do you think they'll open up those dates?

In the meantime, I'm planning on keeping a close eye on the boards and see what everyones experience is this December.

Wow, Tammi, I thought I was the only crazy one. I have been looking at a 4 day cruise for next summer, or like you said go all out and we have looked at a 7 day Mexican Riviera MAgic cruise for next summer, its just the plane ride to Ca that gets me. DH said if we do a 4 day next year he would CONSIDER a 2006 Christmas cruise. LOL Do you think they put something in our water on our cruise?
You'll have to let me know if you get a response to your fax request.

We'll have to see if Carolyn and Mr Bill have made any plans yet. Did you rebook on board? I didn't. It was such a whirlwind few days, that we just didn't get a chance to all sit down and talk about it. I wasn't sure if the kids would opt for a Disney World trip instead. They are all for the 7 night cruise though and to splurge on the Christmas trip, well they said they don't mind waiting.

I have no idea what to expect from inventory control. I went through Dreams Unlimited for our May trip and they did very well by me. I will probably end up contacting our agent again and I'm guessing that she'll be able to follow up with them better than I could.

I'll let you know.

Hooked after just one cruise... aren't we all. Coming from New England in January the water was beautiful. No need to heat. It was 80's and we swam every day. Have a blast

We thought about rebooking on the cruise, but funds were low after 5 days at DW before the cruise. We were going to stop and talk with them about rebooking but just ran out of time.

When we booked for the May 27th we did it straight through DCL. This next one(or 2) we are looking into we may use a TA, however we have been told we may qualify for a discount through DCL for cruises only since we are military. I don't know if they are still doing this or not. When we booked last year we didn't qualify since we were doing land/sea. So we will have to check.

I am also curious to see what everyone has to say about a Christmas cruise.

We were just in Cat. 3 on the May 23rd Wonder. Go for it! You will not regret spending the extra money.

Tammi, welcome to the addiction!

We've cruised the 7-day Eastern for Christmas before and it was *magical*!

Great pictures Melody. The Wonder looks beautiful all decked out for Christmas. I'm glad to hear that you had such a magical time. I didn't have too much trouble convincing DH to cruise again and he even likes the idea of going during the holidays.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you like the pictures! The cruise will be worth the wait for you and your family. If you loved your time on the Wonder, you'll surely love your time during Christmas on the Magic.
