Have any of you fellow Dis'ers been to Hong Kong Disneyland?

I have a work trip to Vietnam in Oct and I'm planning on going a week or so early to visit Hong Kong, and Phuket, Thailand. I was wondering if the park was worth visiting, or will I be disappointed not doing other things? Thanks for any input/info you may have into this!

Hi Shayne

I've never been to Hong Kong Disneyland, but I'm envious of you going :thumbsup2

You might get some responses outside of the Canadian Dis Boards for info

Keep us posted..... :surfweb:

I've been to Hong Kong Disneyland twice, on stopovers for work trips. It's a small park and the first time I went, I had done everything on my "must see" list by about 1:00 PM. Bascially everything except Dumbo, Astro Orbitors, etc. So you can easily cover it in a day. To me it was almost worth it just to be able to walk up Main Street and see Sleeping Beauty's Castle with the green roling mountains behind it. Very wierd if you're used to Disneyland, since Main Street and the Castle are almost exact copies of the Anahein park.

If you are a big Disney fan, you would probably regret not going when you had the chance so it's worth making time as long as this is not the only thing you do in Hong Kong. If you only have a single day in Hong Kong, I would try to see more of the city, but if you have 2 or more days it would be worth it to me to take a day and see the park, walk the grounds, have a look at the hotels, etc. as a compare and contrast type of experience.

Have fun.

Thanks, that's the info I was looking for. I think we are only in Hong Kong for just 1 and a 1/2 days and my travel partners aren't really into Disney. I think I'll try but won't be upset if I don't make it.

We just returned home last night from Hong Kong, Macao, and Phuket. Though I have 2 DDs (ages 9 and 12), we didn't bother visiting HKG Disneyland, simply because the park there is so catered to small children. The rides there are Jungle Cruise, Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh -- all rides of that calibre. For us who have been to WDW and DL/CA, it just wouldn't do anything for us. Relatives and friends who live in HKG told us not to bother going to the park.

When in HKG, there is so much to see and do. (Disney is not one of them!!!) Ideas for you to consider:

1. Take the tram from Central on HK side up to the peak. Take the 1-hour walk. Along the way, you can take pics of the HK views. Take the tram back down.

2. After doing #1, go to Li Yuen Street East and West to shop at the markets. So many bargains. Don't forget to haggle with the vendor to get a cheaper price.

3. Shop at Stanley market on the HK side. You will find so many bargains and go home with many presents for your family.

4. Take the Star Ferry to go from Hong Kong Island to Kowloon. That in itself is an experience.

5. In Kowloon, shop at Ladies Market and Fa Yuen St. (Sneaker Street). Again, many bargains.

Any questions, just send an email. Lots of places to eat and see.
