I am headed to Hong Kong for business next week. My DH is tagging only and will tour while I work. We are staying the weekend after and we will probably go to Hong Kong Disney on Saturday.
I looked at the park map online and it seems that the park is pretty compact.
I have been to Disneyland, but years ago. I am used to Disney World.
What should I expect in Hong Kong? What are don't missess?

Any thoughts appreciated.

I was at HK Disneyland in October 2008. It is small compared to the other Disneyland's, but I enjoyed it. It's fun and easy to get there. Most of the rides are duplicates from other parks, but newer, and IMO improved. They are missing some of the standards like Thunder Mtn, Splash Mtn, Haunted Mansion, and PotC. Two shows were excellent: Festival of the Lion King, and Golden Mickey's. The Jungle Cruise has separate lines depending on the language you want (English, Mandarin, or Cantonese). And the Stitch show (somewhat like Turtle Talk with Crush) has shows in the 3 languages at different times. The fireworks were very good also (When I was there it was a special Halloween fireworks show.)
I do know that they are expanding the park, but I don't have any idea of how that's going or when it will be completed.

eta: You might want to check out the Disboards' Hong Kong Disneyland forum under 'Other Lands' for more information.

We went there a couple years ago, the place is definitely MUCH smaller than WDW. And don't be surprised if some interesting line waiting experience. The good news is that it's small so you can get it done in a day easy. The bad news is that it's small... :lmao:

Enjoy!

dvc_john,
Where is the Disney Hong Kong thread? I don't see it.
Thanks

We've been there several times, last time was around Tgiving last year. Every time we've been there, it has been very uncrowded and definitely is a one day park. Next week, my nephew in HK has his Easter vacation, but there never seem to be too many locals there anyway, they prefer another theme park in HK. Seems to be more tourists from China. It is very easy to get to on the MTR and the park is very pretty. Have fun!

If I may add one more thing...try the unique food offerings that you won't find at other Disney properties. You are in China after all. :)

We were there in October 2009 and had a great time with our then nearly 4yo and 2.5yo.
