Hello!
I'm going on my honeymoon September of 2015 and my fiance and I are doing a land and sea vacation! After our Disney cruise, we'll be spending seven days in Disney World. I've been to Disney plenty of times with my family, but I've NEVER been to Disney with just two people. As a family, we usually dine at buffets and restaurants with many dietary options available. Because of the number of people and our dietary needs as a group, we always tended toward Liberty Tree, Chef Mickey's, etc. My fiance and I both love these options, but are looking for other ideas to fill the rest of our days. Last August (when my fiance and I got engaged) we ate by ourselves for a special dinner at Via Napoli in EPCOT, and adored the food and atmosphere. We were looking for some more suggestions on nicer restaurants to go to to make our honeymoon even more special.

Any help is appreciated!

What do you like? I think most people would lean the way of suggesting any signature restaurant, but food types vary..

We're also honeymooning in WDW (after our Disney wedding). Just to give you an idea of who we are, DF is a pretty plain steak & potatoes, chicken sandwich kind of guy, American/Italian food lover (though he says he's always open to trying new things) while I'm the one constantly gawking at pictures of Disney food :thumbsup2

We've selected the following for our honeymoon: Be Our Guest, Sc-Fi Dine In, Ohana (dinner), Kona (breakfast), Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Captain's Grille (breakfast). Other than Sci Fi (which we're doing for my MOH's birthday) and Captain's (which is on our departure day because we're staying at BC) the other restaurants are all new to us, which is partly why we chose them. Yachtsman is our "special" meal - I had originally planned for Narcoossee's but changed it to take advantage of being able to walk back to our room after.

I would hop on over to allears.net to read through their menus and see what appeals to you guys out of the signature restaurants. I'm sure you'll see a lot of the same recommendations popping up.

I'm into trying anything and everything. I typically don't eat red meat, but my DF is a steak FANATIC, so I like restaurants that offer both types of things, but I can almost always find something desirable at steakhouses. We tried Ohana last year and didn't love the food...it seemed overcooked and almost forced?

Hope that tells you something...thanks for helping!

Yay, a Disney bride! princess: Congratulations on your upcoming vows and honeymoon!

We tried Ohana last year, and we didn't love it. I've heard great things about the Yachtsman Steakhouse, but I'm not a love of red meat....DF is though, so maybe that would be worth a shot?

If you are up for more expensive options, California Grill and Victoria Albert's would be my top choices.

In the not so expensive category I would recommend virtually any restaurant in world showcase. Particularly France, Italy and Mexico. Something about Mexico's atmosphere inside is just romantic. It never seems too loud and I don't ever find an abundance of kids eating there.

Echoing the PP, knowing your likes and dislikes might help us narrow down some more recommendations. What type of food do you like? What price point?

My favorite on our honeymoon was California Grill. Good food, atmosphere felt special, and we timed it to be able to watch the MK fireworks.

I second the Cali Grill recommendation. V&A is certainly fine dining but men are required to wear a sportscoat (while eating too!) and I know my fiance never brings that when we go to WDW. So plan accordingly if you make reservations there!

I've actually never heard any reviews about California Grill. I'll have to look it up! As for price, we're not looking to break the bank the entire vacation, but we are looking for two "special" nights. If we go out for a special occasion here (in MA,) we're typically looking at a total bill of $170 (including drinks, desserts, and occasionally an appetizer if the mood strikes us). But we're looking for recommendations from every price range to try!

Regarding taste, I'm one for trying any type of food. My typical go-to's; Italian, American, French and Mexican. As for my DF, it's typically Italian, Mexican, and anything steak. He comes from a family of vegetarians, so he takes red meat wherever he can get it!

Thanks for all the help!

My DF is bringing a sports coat anyway for our cruise, so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to have to look it up to see what it's like. Where is it located?

We are going for our Honeymoon in December! We are "splurging" on the Deluxe Dining Plan, and planning on eating at:
California Grill, Akershus (breakfast), Chefs de France (candlelight processional), Crystal Palace (breakfast), Narcoossees, Tusker house (breakfast), Garden Grill, Mama Melrose (Fantasmic Pkg) and 1900 Park Fare. Going to try for a BOG FP for lunch one day..

I will admit, some of the breakfast choices are to get us to the parks a little earlier, and some would say that's a lot of dining for a Sunday-Saturday week, but we like to eat, and most of those are breakfast and dinner.

We don't eat out an nice places here at home, so we picked a few for while we are there, and then some decent sounding ones for the rest of the trip! I'm most excited about California Grill and Narcoossees!

Another vote for Cali Grill! Granted we haven't been there since prior to its refurbishment but the menu looks similar. We went on our honeymoon, and it was the best meal we had. Then for the three anniversary trips we took, we spent our actual anniversary there.

Meanwhile, other great choices are:

Yachtsman - At the Yacht Club, this is a great place for steak. And the resort is just so darn nice!
Narcoossee's - At the Grand Floridian, a great seafood meal but they do steaks well, too.
Artist Point - At the Wilderness Lodge. Just...wonderful. It's become my husband's second favorite meal behind CG, which is saying something. It's definitely in my top 5!

Hi Krystal,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Here are a few recommendations:

Teppan Edo - excellent food, food is hot/right off the grill, my favorite filet mignon in Disney, fun atmosphere with hibachi chef entertainment, etc

Tutto Italia - great house-made pastas, sitting on the patio is very gushy

Tutto Gusto - romantic wine cellar environment; great for wine tastings and smaller sampler plates of meats & cheeses

LeCellier - the cheese soup and pretzel bread is to die for... nice lunch option

Be Our Guest - this has the magical experience factor (snow falling out the windows, etc) but the food itself is not as good as the other restaurants on my list

Sci-Fi Drive In Theater - great novelty/uniqueness factor if you're looking for somewhere to eat in DHS

California Grill - I agree with the previous posters about the quality, romance factors, etc - the only con for me is that the other ones I listed above are more of an experience rather than just a great meal

Narcoossee's - luxurious, great quality, romantic, great spot to watch the MK fireworks from the deck

Tambu Lounge at the Poly - great place to share a romantic drink served in a pineapple

Yes definitely look up Cali Grill! DH and I ate there for the first time on our last trip. A friend of ours gave us Disney gift cards for our Christmas gift and told us to use it for dinner at the California Grill. We were lucky enough to score and ADR during fireworks and it was truly the most amazing dinner I have ever had at WDW. We had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts (no alcoholic drinks) and definitely came in under $200.

If you both like Mexican then I would definitely suggest the San Angel Inn @ the Mexico pavilion. The lighting inside the pavilion is perfect for a nice romantic dinner or lunch. You may even score a table right on the water for their boat ride. It isn't your typical Mexican fare that you find at Americanized Mexican restaurants so check the menu to see if you would even like it.
