DF and I will be renting dvc points for our wedding/honeymoon
Right now it's a toss up between a studio or a 1 bedroom. I'm leaning more towards the 1 bedroom so me and the bridal party have plenty of room to get ready the morning if the wedding.
I can rent at either Boardwalk or Old key West
I know alot of people recommend boardwalk for the location but the 1bedroom looks a lot smaller than the one at old key west. Anyone have any input or suggestions ?

Well, OKW has some of the biggest rooms on property, so a 1-bedroom there is going to be bigger than at any other WDW DVC resort. You can see a ton of OKW 1-bedroom villa photos at the bottom of this post: http://disneytravelbabble.com/trip-reports/halloween-trip/day-3/

How big is your bridal party? For me, the convenient location of the BoardWalk trumps OKW any day. I always rent a car, but if I didn't have one, I'd never stay at OKW. A 1-bedroom at BWV is still going to be way bigger than a standard room, and you'll have two rooms plus a bathroom for getting ready in.

I can't say enough great things about the Boardwalk! The 5 minute walk to Epcot is awesome (especially if its F&W time!) and there is tons of entertainment along the boardwalk (both in terms of things to do and things to watch). You didn't mention where the reception is, but if it happens to be at one of the Boardwalk locations, it's great to be at the same location of the reception. I actually made a quick run to the room during our reception and after the reception I was able to drop some stuff off for myself and our guests before we headed to Jellyrolls for the night.

Thanks lurkyloo!
You had a lot of nice photos of OKW
I just feel like the layout there looks a lot more open than BWV

Thanks for the input. I love the boardwalk location waaaay better than OKW.still undecided on a resort.

The Boardwalk definitely has better location and things to do. It's more exciting and I loved the nightlife. We had a car so we did not walk to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. I can see how that would be important if you were planning on drinking a lot and didn't want anyone driving.

My last stay at Disney was at the Boardwalk. There is no way I would feel comfortable trying to get ready in a room at the Boardwalk. We had a one bedroom, shared with 3 adults and 1 child. I felt cramped everyday. I felt like we could barely fit in the living area when we were all up and walking around. The bedroom had barely any space around the bed. The kitchen is teeny tiny. Also, there is a small round table for eating at, not the nice long tables with the benches (though OKW does not have that either!).

Normally on vacation I don't mind having a smaller room because I don't spend a lot of time at the resort. I would choose to go back to the Boardwalk for a vacation and if I was going to be there with a lot friends rather than family I might choose differently.

For my wedding however, I've decided to stay at OKW. I think the themeing fits my whole family better and it's way more laid back, which is definitely how I would rather feel for my wedding. Also, consider that the Boardwalk has loonnggg walks to most rooms. For me, I didn't want to have to lug my dress and favors and everything else back and forth in those elevators and very long hallways. For me, being able to drive right up to my room is a huge benefit.

OKW is definitely less "Disneyinyourface" and more relaxing. I have yet to eat at Olivia's but I hear it's awesome. The are more food choices at the BW for sure if that matters to you.

It's a hard decision. I actually posted a similar thread over on the DVC Boards because there they know the most about each resort and rooms. I was choosing between OKW and BLT and in the end OKW won out. The arguments for BLT and BW are fairly similar. The much larger rooms seem to be better for socializing and things like getting ready. If you're planning on being at the resort a lot and using the room for gatherings, definitely OKW.

If you're only asking about the room size - I feel like most studios are similar to nice hotel rooms. A one bedroom anywhere you choose will definitely seem large! But the OKW rooms are way larger than BW rooms. The friend I was with who owns DVC and has more DVC experience said she will never go back to BW again because of the room size.

Sorry for the long ramble! I hope some of that helped. Good luck with your decision!

edit: Oh and I meant to say, you can definitely find photos of the rooms and resorts around. That should be helpful for you!

Haha! After I read the Wedding Boards I move to the DVC Boards and someone posted a similar question. It's not wedding related but maybe it will help with your decision.

OKW or BWV?

If you're thinking about location when deciding between the two resorts, in my opinion it depends where you want to be. You can walk from the Boardwalk to Epcot, but if you plan on spending the majority of your time at the Magic Kingdom, BWV vs. OKW location doesn't really make much difference. It's true there's great night life at Boardwalk, but from OKW you can get a boat over to Downtown Disney which I reckon takes less than 15 minutes.

As the PP said, OKW is definitely subtle Disney and more laid back and if you want space to socialize and have plenty of room to get ready for your wedding, I would suggest OKW as I think they still have the biggest 1-bedrooms on property even with the addition of Bay Lake Tower. If you're driving, it is great to be able to park your car directly outside your resort room door and not in a lot.

OKW studios are the largest studios also, they definitely feel MUCH bigger than studios in other resorts. OKW is the cheapest resort on points too, if that has any influence on the situation, but if you just wanted somewhere big for the wedding night you could always move to BWV after and stay at both :goodvibes

The friend I was with who owns DVC and has more DVC experience said she will never go back to BW again because of the room size.

As a DVC member, I agree! You really feel it! :rotfl:

I would just add that if the only time you need a lot of space is the morning of your wedding, it might be worth feeling a little cramped then to have the convenience of a BoardWalk location for the rest of your trip. I mean, people get ready with all their bridesmaids in regular Disney hotel rooms all the time and it works for them, so a 1-bedroom at BWV is already going to be bigger than those.

Good points from you guys. I appreciate it. Ultimately id rather have the location of the boardwalk since our wedding is at the swan and we spend a lot of time at Epcot. I just hope I don't regret taking the smaller room !
In that case do you guys have any suggestions on either a standard guest room at either BWI or BC and a 1 bedroom villa between the two

I don't like that I won't have daily mouse keeping if I rent dvc and can't utilize free dining
So now we are leaning more towards a regular room thru disney at either BC or BWI.

I may try and get a con joining room with my MOH to utilize both the morning of the wedding
