Honeymoon Registry Info about prepaid reservations

Last night I realized that there might be a huge problem if you've booked a package deal for an onsite honeymoon and have the hotel listed in your registry. I called this morning to get some clarification on the limitations of using the Registry Card. It seems I may have been the first one to ask about this, because it took a long time for my CM to get answers, and she ended up having to call the main reservation desk.

I booked a package for POFQ with the DDP and passes. Because of this, the entire balance has to be paid 45 days in advance, which comes even before my shower. So my concern was that if several people decide a few weeks before my wedding to contribute to the POFQ room fund that is listed in the registry (say $600 for example), and I've already paid the full amount, would I be able to be refunded $600 of my payment and use the $600 on the card instead, or would I be left with a nonrefundable payment and and extra $600 that I have to figure out how to spend on Mickey gear.

In the end, I was told that I can essentially get back money I personally put in and use the card money in its place, but only at least 10 days in advance. So I can't get there on my honeymoon, card in hand, and use that money toward my reservations. I told the CM that if someone waits until the last minute (as people often do) that I could be left with a lot of extra money that won't be used for the purpose my loved one intended it for. She suggested that I take the POFQ option off the registry altogether 10 days before the wedding to eliminate it as an option. I guess that's what I'll do. The only other option I can see is to change my entire reservation around and book the room only rate so it doesn't have to be paid in full before I get there, then ditch the DDP and add restaurants onto the registry.

I hope for future registry participants they'll try to iron this out. It seems like a major issue that a lot of people will be faced with.

Anyway, I thought this might be helpful to the few of you who have signed up so far. :)

I haven't signed up for that yet (we have some complications of our own, namely that DF is a cast member so we aren't necessarily paying regular rates for everything) but that's good info to have. Thanks for posting!

I haven't figured that one out yet either for the honeymoon registry. Because the packages have to be paid in full - what is the point of putting the res up on the site to have friends/family pay for it?

I've stumped other CMs too with this question. :confused3 I really don't understand the point of it, personally.

In essence, no matter what someone chooses on your registry, in the end it only equates to a dollar amount that goes on the card. None of that money needs to be used for the items that were selected. I think it's just nicer for someone to select a specific gift to give, even though the money doesn't have to be used for that gift. Like, if someone chooses to buy you a dinner at Boma from your registry options, they feel like they're really giving you a gift of dinner at Boma, when in reality they're only giving you $80 (or whatever it is) on a gift card that you can then use for a Mickey sweatshirt if you wanted to. But my concern was that someone would give a really generous gift and select several credits of $100 each toward my POFQ reservation and then leave me with $300 on a Disney card instead of actually helping to pay for my honeymoon because I had to pay the whole thing before the gift was given.

As a side note, I have to figure out how to change POFQ to WL on my registry since I got an awesome deal with that new code that came out! :cool1:
