Hi everyone! We are in the beginning stages of planning our October 19-26, 2003 honeymoon! Yay! Anyway, we wanted to stay at the Poly...we are considering the concierge. We were quoted a price of $3007 for 2 adults with the tax as a AAA discount rate. Our TA got us the AP rate when we went last year, and she said she spoke to WDW about when the AP rates come out for next Oct...they said usually 2-3 months prior.

So...my question is: we think 3007.00 is a lot! We don't mind spending the money bcause it is our honeymoon, but wewould prefer to spend a little less. We were thinking of booking regular Poly lagoon view, and if an AP rate came out for concierge, we would try to get it. Does that seem okay? Do youthink though that there wil be any rooms left? Should be book concierge and downgrade if there are no AP rates?? This year it was $289/night, which we are willng to pay. $429 just seem too high.

I also know there are lots of posts about the pros and cons of concierge. I am not trying to start a debate, but is it worth it? Can you tell me what made the concierge stand out on your trip or what happened that you would not do it again? I can make a better decision using your experiences. Thanks!!! Holly

Congrats! I stayed in the Poly lagoon view concierge last December, and I really enjoyed it. My advise as far as booking the room goes would be to go ahead and book the concierge room, then change to an Annual Passholders rate when that becomes available (usually that doesn't happen until quite a bit closer to your trip dates, as your TA said). Then if an AP rate does not become available, you can change to a regular room. As far as concierge goes, I did think it was wonderful. Particularly on a honeymoon where you will be spending a good deal of time at your resort, I think it would be very nice. The food offerings at the Poly concierge were delicious. You could make a meal out of the breakfast offerings, the mid-day snacks were yummy cookies (but of course not enough for a meal) and some other little snacks, and the evening offerings were heavy hors devours, but not enough to make a meal of. The late evening desserts were delicious. The concierge will make priority seatings for you, which would be very helpful for your honeymoon. Also, the bathrobes in your room are a nice little perk. We had lagoon view room #1512, and here is a link for you to look at my pictures. Hope this helps! :)

Congratulations!!! Hubby and I also honeymooned at the World. We had a wonderful time.

Hubby and I stayed at the Poly in '99. Loved it! Paid "rack rate" using a TA. And it was high. (That was just our experience.) And it was before I found this site. :(

Check out www.mousesavers.com. The lady that runs that site does a good job of posting "codes", that you can use to reduce the price of your room per night. There are "codes" for all types of rooms including deluxe concierge. If you don't see them for your time frame, check back. It's updated often.

Last year we stayed at the GF and used a code. It beat the AAA (can't remember if it beat the AP rate). I did all of the planning using mousesavers (and tips from this board). It really cut down on the expense. There are other tips for reducing your overall expense also. Mousesavers is a great site. It saved us about $1400 total. It was less than what we paid at the Poly! Gotta love that! :D

I agree with ead79, concierge would be the way to go if you are honeymooning.

Hope you have a terrific time!

Thank you both! Yes I agree that the rack rates are high! Our TA is wonderful though...our last trip she got us the AP rate for WL and switched our resort. She knewnothing about it until I told her. I will pass this info onto my fiance. Anybody else?? Please?

If you're willing to pay for the LV nonconcierge room, you might as well book the concierge GV--the prices are nearly the same!

I would bite the bullet, book what I want now with whatever minimal discount you already received, and hope for a greater discount later. As you said, it's your honeymoon!

Just think, if you do end up saving some $$$ you'll be thrilled becaus you had planned to spend so much more! It will be like a wedding present.

Elisabeth, thanks for sharing your pictures! We are staying at the Poly concierge in February, so i really enjoyed viewing your photos. This will be our first trip to WDW!

We honeymooned at the Polynesian in 1991 during October. It was such a wonderful place to honeymoon at. I am sure you will be happy in any room there. I will say that we had a Concierge Lagoon view when we were there, but as it was over 10 years ago the prices were a little less. I really enjoyed the lagoon view. Looking out over Cinderella's Castle each morning and each evening was well worth it. As for the concierge, well it was a lot different then as the lounge was in the main building, but it was OK. We didn't use it as much as we could have.

This is of course my opinion, but I would spend what you feel comfortable with and if that means forgoing the Concierge room so be it. . Personally I would be happy in a lagoon view with or without the concierge lounge. Again, this is just my opinion.

Either way, enjoy, a honeymoon is a once in a lifetime thing! ;)
