Honeymoon hotel choice?

If you we're going to Disney on your honeymoon, where would you stay? We're doing a memories ceremony in October, and will do a reception back home in April and have a honeymoon to follow. I've stayed in so many of the hotels, and we LOVED AK lodge when we stayed but I was contemplating Boardwalk? I've never stayed there, which is why I almost never get over there. But since they have such a fun nighttime atmosphere I was thinking that might be a good choice? Suggestions? This trip we're staying at Saratoga Springs, last time we split between AKL and BLT. I don't want to stay at a moderate or value (although I think the new suites look adorable... Not on my honeymoon!).

I don't think you can "lose" between any of the Boardwalk area resorts. I would pick the one with the theming you like best. You can walk to the nightlife on the Boardwalk from any of the resorts. Personally, my fiance and I picked Beach Club for our wedding next month because it's the closest to International Gateway (backdoor entrance to Epcot) and we like the beach it shares with Yacht Club. If you plan on lounging by the pool at all, that's something to consider.

BW area is great in October because of it's proximity to Epcot for Food and Wine festival. Then you can walk, roll, stumble your way out. If you don't really plan on partaking in that, then maybe the Poly? I think that has a nice romantic feel. But in October, my vote is Epcot area.

If I had my top choice, I'd stay at AKL. I've never been but oh, boy, do I dream of that place.

As it is, soon-to-be-DH and I are on a pretty tight budget and it's only thanks to the military discounted tickets that we can go at all. So we are staying at Shades of Green on our honeymoon and I will cherish every second! :) :) Someday, though... 10th anniversary? I WILL get my AKL stay. ;)

Do you know about the honeymoon cottages at Boardwalk?

I think they are rather expensive...but if I were getting married, had the $$, and wanted to stay at Boardwalk...that is exactly where I would want to stay.

We are staying a few nights at the Polynesian and the rest of the trip on International Drive.

It was between the Poly and the GF. We chose the Poly just because of its Hawaiian theme.

Other hotels that tickled my fancy were Art of Animation (because we have a 2yr old), The campground (forget its name, because we all love camping in our family) and the Contemporary

DH and I stayed at the Beach Club for our honeymoon. It's our favorite resort and we love the fact that its' so close to Epcot and HS.

We've also stayed at the Boardwalk and it's a really great resort. The theming is beautiful and like the BC, it's close to Epcot and HS. We like heading over to the Boardwalk after we get back from the parks to get a snack or shop.

It IS fantastic at AKL... the pool area is so relaxing if you ask me! Last time we stayed at Jambo House area.

Shades of Green is nice! My parents stayed there before.

We stayed at Beach Club after our wedding, which I guess is sort of like a honeymoon (even though we honeymooned later). It was perfect - laid back, romantic - we loved it, I highly recommend!

We're doing an anniversary trip in January and staying at the GF (which is always an obvious), but also staying at Boardwalk. We love the area but have yet to stay! Looking forward to it. :thumbsup2

We stayed at Beach Club the night of our wedding and went on a DCL the next day. That said, I'd stay at your favorite location. If AKL is your favorite, stay there!

My DF and I stayed a few days at the AKL: Savannah View, it was amazing!

We also stayed at the PO: FQ, it was an okay place but you probably want something a bit nicer for your honeymoon.

I can't yet speak for the other resorts, but I hope to change that in the future. :)

Good luck! :)

My DH and I stayed at wilderness lodge for our honeymoon. He is a real outdoors lover and it was perfect. They have a honeymoon suite as well. We are going back with my DD in December and staying at AKL. We absolutely can not wait!

The Garden Suites at the Boardwalk are so nice (and expensive). We stayed there for our engagement and our wedding.

When my fiance asked me to marry him back in 2012 - he booked a Villa at the Boardwalk. It was two floors. The first floor had a huge couch, tv, mini kitchen, and bathroom. Then upstairs there was a huge bed and bathroom with a jacuzzi tub! It was so romantic!

This is a Garden Suite and not a Villa. The Garden Suites are part of the BWI and a Villa is part of DVC.

The Suites are amazing, each has it's own garden and 3 of them have balconies.

I'm planning my Disney Honeymoon for June 2014 and I chose to stay at the Boardwalk Villas by renting DVC points. It's so nice to be able to stay at a Deluxe Resort and still be affordable!!

We're going on a Disneymoon :lovestruc Right now, the plan is to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I want to stay in a deluxe to make it extra special, and it's the cheapest of the deluxe hotels. Plus, we've been to the hotel before for dinner and it's so pretty.

We're staying at Port Orleans Riverside for our Disneymoon. Part of the decision was made because we're going down and getting married over Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, and also competing in the race, so we had to be at a race host resort. BC/YC are also host resorts, but a little out of our price range. We'd been looking at POR before we realized it was a host resort for the race, so it worked out well. We're super excited for our trip in 20 days!
