 everyone!

We are going on our WDW honeymoon in September. We also chose to go with the MYW Dining Progam.

I've only been to Disney once with never really dining in any real restaurant or speciality meal.

Can you help me in referring some dining/restaurant options? We would like to stick to the dining program for the most part.

Also, is Cinderella's breakfast or Chef Mickey included in the dining program? Probably not I am assumming. Is Cinderella's breakfast a must do? I'm thinking so.

Any advice and referrals would be VERY MUCH appreciative. We want this to be a very memorable honeymoon. :lovestruc

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon :) Truthfully, I'm not up to speed on the MYW dining plan because we are AP holders. However, I can recommend some nice places to eat. If it's within your budget and you are looking for a really memorable and special evening, I suggest Victoria & Albert's, preferably the Chef's Table if it's available. It was something we won't forget!! Chefs de France and Le Cellier are our favs in Epcot. Character meals are fun....Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe are my personal favorites. Chef Mickeys and Donald's are just OK. If you're looking for a fun dinner show, Hoop Dee Doo was sooooo much fun....and because we noted on our reservation that we were on our honeymoon, they gave us our own table in the front. Very nice! Don't forget to get your bride and groom ears and have fun!!!

My wife and I went to Disney on our Honeymoon 2 years ago. Our favorite restaurant was Narcoossee's. We made a Priority seating about 1/2 hour before the Magic Kingdom fireworks. When I called I told them that it was our honeymoon and I requested a window seat so we could watch the fireworks. It was very romantic.
We also ate at Portobello Yacht Club and they gave us free Dessert and wrote congradulations in chocolate on our dessert plates.
The best meal that we had was at the Yachtsman Steak House. I had the Land and Sea and my wife had the Filet Mignon..

Hope this helps.

We ate at O'hana (my favorite) at the Polynesian hotel. Also, I heard Spoodles on the Boardwalk is a great restaurant! Not sure if they are on your dining plan- but they are worth trying! Wear your bride and groom ears as I saw many a bride and groom receiving special attention!!

If Artist Point is on the list, they're a must. Romantic, quiet, great ambience, excellent menu, superb service, topnotch wine list. You can see a full review of mine if you look under Sleepingdog's Dining Delights and Low Lights earlier in this board. I highly recommend it.

What type of diners are you? Dh and I are not so much culinary critics as we are theming people. We love restaurants with great themes, and if the food selection isn't good well just get simple things like chicken salads. :)

However I've never been to a WDW restaurant that had bad food. Then again, I'm really picky so only eat a few things, and have not tried many of the restaurants yet.

That being said, Coral Reef at Epcot it AWESOME! :) Ask for the lower level and it's like being in an aquarium! Fantastic experience!

Rainforest Cafe in DTD or right outside of the AK. Fun food if your more adventurous and some normal stuff as well.

Teppanyaki at Japan in Epcot's World Showcase. Great Japanese food and a fun show if you get a nice chef who really flips the salt shakers and dices like a pro! (They cook the food in front of you!)

Ohana's is a MUST do character breakfast. The atmosphere is just very nice, romantic in a way though it's busy, and fun b/c of the coconut races and characters, and the foods great as well! :)

Congratulations!

Also, is Cinderella's breakfast or Chef Mickey included in the dining program? Probably not I am assumming. Is Cinderella's breakfast a must do? I'm thinking so.
All the character meals are on the plan. IMHO I don't think CRT breakfast is a must do but dinner would be nice for a couple.

Victoria & Albert's, preferably the Chef's Table if it's available.

You would have to pay for this out-of-pocket (not on plan)

Our favorite restaurant was Narcoossee's

This was the first place that popped in my head when I read your post

[I]Spoodles on the Boardwalk is a great restaurant! Not sure if they are on your dining plan- but they are worth trying!

Spoodles in on the plan

Rainforest Cafe in DTD or right outside of the AK. Fun food if your more adventurous and some normal stuff as well.

Not on the dining plan but we plan on going anyway & using up some gift cards

Have fun planning!

On my honeymoon, my favorite meal was at Boma. We ate there our first night, a little late. It was fantastic.

We also enjoyed meals at 'Ohana, Rose & Crown, San Angel Inn, and did the CRT breakfast. I don't know if it was a *must do* but it was so much fun!

I think Narcoossee's would be a lovely choice, as well as Chefs de France or Le Cellier. Make sure you wear bride and groom ears, and tell the CM when you make your PS that it's your honeymoon.

For our honeymoon, we ate at:

  • Marrakesh: This is not on the dining plan, but it was WONDERFUL. The restaurant itself is GORGEOUS, and it's so neat to hear the Morrocan band, and see the belly dancer. The food was DELICIOUS! It was not spicy, or overly-exotic. It was VERY good.
  • Beaches & Cream: This is on the dining plan, but NOT worth one of your sit down meals, IMHO! It was delicious, and a lot of fun, but it would not be a good value for your dining plan dollar. If you're looking for a little something extra to pay out of your own pocket, do try this one. We had a French Dip and a No Way Jose and it was all REALLY good.
  • Cape May Cafe: This is on your dining plan, and we had breakfast. It's a character meal. While it's not at all romantic, we had a grand time seeing the kids play with the characters in their beach garb. Food was good! Traditional breakfast foods - nothing amazingly fancy. Very good value for your dining plan dollar! :)
  • Garden Grill: We ate here for lunch, but I'm not going to say too much about it because it's undergone a big change since Soarin' and The Land's overhaul. It is on your dining plan.
  • Boma: This is on your dining plan, and it is DELICIOUS! If you're looking for an all-you-can eat dinner experience that's somewhat outside of this box, this is your place to go! We had a great time, and actually our server was from Buffalo, as was the group at the table next to us. But ANYWAY, a great way to use a dining plan meal!
  • San Angel Inn: NOT on your dining plan, but delicious! And very romantic. The food was delicious. I'm sure more authentic mexican food is available elsewhere, but we really enjoyed our experience here.
  • 'Ohana: This is on your dining plan, and was AMAZING! We loved it here. It was very romantic to look out over the lagoon and see the castle. The food was delicious (GOTTA try those fried wontons!) and the service was great.
  • Artist Point: This is on your dining plan, but counts as a signature meal experience, so it'll use two of your sit downs, but I think it's worth it. This was our most romantic dinner. We were a bit upset because of a confusion with a California Grill priority seating, and they knew this, so they gave us a very secluded little table. It was SO romantic and beautiful! The food was DELICIOUS! You HAVE to try the Mushroom soup, and the cedar plank salmon. And for dessert...the berry cobbler is to DIE for. Can you tell I really enjoyed it here?! :)
  • Kona Cafe: This is on your dining plan. We ate both breakfast and dinner here, and while I LOVED my breakfast experience, the dinner experience was just okay for me. My wife was exactly the opposite! :) She has an allergy to eggs, and didn't want anything cavity-inducingly sweet, so her choices were limited. But I LOVED LOVED LOVED my Tonga Toast! :) Anyway, I'm glad we did it and would try it if I were you! :)
  • Cinderella's Royal Table: This is on your dining plan. We ate breakfast. I didn't give a dang about the princesses. I wanted to eat inside the castle, and see the park before it opened to the general public! :) What I paid was worth those experiences! The breakfast potatoes and blintzes were DELICIOUS! If you're going for the princess factor, save your money. We were there for about 45 minutes, and the princesses didn't even come up to our level of the restaurant. Had I any kids, I would have made a stink about it, but since I didn't care anyway, we just left.
  • Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre: This is on your dining plan. SAVE YOUR SIT-DOWN MEAL! We had an awful experience. Service was excellent, but the food was awful. It had absolutely NO taste. And the seating made conversation hard. I like sitting across from my sweetie so I can see her. I don't like sitting next to her!

Hope that helps somewhat! :)

WOW!!! Your information was very helpful, Snacky!!!! Also, everyonele's. :goodvibes

Thank you to all for your information. :)

First of all, the dining package does include Character Meals. You'll have to use a table service meal for those. If you want one of the more upscale restaurants (California Grill, Artist Point, Coral Reef), you'll have to use two table service meals per person.

If you have the cash, Victoria and Albert's as people have said, is a nice (albeit pricey) place to eat. Very nice atmosphere, very elegant.

My wife and I ate at Coral Reef (using two table service meals) and absolutely loved it. The view is breathtaking, especially if you get a seat on the bottom level next to the aquarium. The food is mostly seafood, but it's great. Very nice atmosphere, romantic as you could possibly get in a theme park.

We also really enjoyed Crystal Palace (a character meal using only one table service meal). We told them at the door we were celebrating our honeymoon and they treated us like royalty. When we were seated, our table had about a million little Mickey Mouse ears arranged in the shape of a heart. My wife didn't want to eat because it would mess up the arrangement. Now, it's not super romantic because it's a character meal, but it's one of the more laid back character meals at Disney, so it's easy to enjoy tiny intimate moments.

Now, my biggest Honeymoon tip I can possibly give. Your first day there, find bride and groom mouse ears, and WEAR THEM. You will be treated like kings and queens where ever you go. We got our own boat on the El Rio del Tiempo boat ride in Mexico as well as our own boat on Maelstrom. The Mexico ride is much more romantic (grrr, I hate trolls!!!).

I can't stress enough how much those bride and groom mouse ears did for us. We were given so many perks and everyone in Disney (from CMs to everyday people) offered their congrats. I got so tired of saying "Thank you" that I just nodded and smiled after a while. LOL

Our biggest regret is waiting until three days into our trip to buy the ears. :rotfl:

Anyway, enjoy your honeymoon and remember to leave all your worries behind you.

Would it make a big difference if I was wearing the bride mouse ears and NOT my fiance'? I was talking to him about it yesterday and he was awfully hesitant.

He might not want to wear the top hat, but what about a baseball hat?

I made some for my wife and I for a couple of reasons. First of all, those Disney hats look goofy. Second of all, the bridal one is just a little beanie that she didn't feel like securing every day with safety pins. And lastly, I was bored! :)

and mine...

There were hella easy to make. I got the hats at Party City. They have them at David's but the groom hat didn't fit my head right, so I had to get another at Party City.

Then, at Michael's they have this craft foam stuff in the kids' craft section, and I cut about 6 of the ear shapes. I had an ear headband that I used as a tracing pattern. I glued 3 of the ears together to make a thicker ear. Then, I cut a small strip and glued the ears to the strip. I then glued the ears to the hat. For my wife's, I bought some decorative fabric roses and put them along the base of each ear. It was totally assembled with hot glue.

Mine came apart, and needed to be repaired halfway through, but it was an easy fix, and hers stayed together the whole time.

Hope that helps your mouse-ear timid husband! :)

My top-hat was very uncomfortable, so I mostly wore my baseball cap, which a friend of ours had made specifically for our honeymoon. It's similar to what Snacky had pictured.

My wife wore her bride ears, because she just liked the way it looked on her. She kept it secure with safety pins. The only problem she had was the veil getting in her face at times. But overalll, she loved the attention.

I would think anything that says bride or groom will get you some extra special Disney love.

If your husband is more of the baseball cap wearing guy like I am, you might want to consider just going that route. I bought the top hat so we'd have the set, but I have to say it doesn't fit well and is not the most comfortable thing.

Congratulations!
Some dining favorite of ours are California Grill (awesome view and food-we got engaged here), Portobello Yacht Club, Ohana, Cinderellas Royal Table, San Angel Inn, Crystal Palace, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Fultons Crab House.
Enjoy your Disneymoon!!!

I LOVE your little couple "We can't wait for our honeymoon at disney"... that is sooo cute!! My DH and I celebrate our honeymoon ,at the most magical place on earth, nearly 5 years ago. It was THE most wonderful experience. (Don't worry...DH wouldn't even consider wearing his "groom ears"..but I wore my bride ears and we got tons of free stuff and lots of "congrats" from CMs and guests. We even got to be "xtras" at the stunt show at MGM. GREAT fun!!!) Tell EVERYONE (even when you are not wearing your bride ears) that you are on your honeymoon. At almost every resturant we ate at we received either a drink or desert for free. Also..are you staying in a disney resort? Tell them when you book (or call back and tell them) that you guys will be on your honeymoon. Sometimes they leave special things in your room or give you a voucher for a free drink/dessert or even meal.
As far as where to eat...it's expensive..but worth every penny. Victoria and Alberts was hands down the most romantic dinner we have ever had. I DO NOT reccommend the Chef's table though. (#1..it's even more expensive)..some friends of ours decided they wanted to be "alone" and booked the table. They LOVED the food..but said it was very noisy (I think you are practically in the kitchen) and not very romantic. They now wish they would have eaten in the main dining room. In the main dining room (where we ate) it's very soft lighting and a harpist playing soft music. The dining area is small and quite. (they only seat a certain number of people at each dinner time ) It's just an amazing experience. So save a little xtra money and treat yourselves. You will never forget it! I wish you both all the best on your upcoming marriage. I also hope you have a great honeymoon!!! I hope it is as magical as ours was. ENJOY!!

Oh my gosh! Snacky, what a great idea!!! :teeth:

Wow, you've been so helpful for me already....thank you!!! :goodvibes

If you happen to still have that ear pattern and can possibly send it via email or such, could you let me know? Or perhaps where I could get one. :)

Thank you everyone!! You are helping me out a lot!!! I cant' express enough :grouphug:

Princess-RN: Thanks for the compliments on my signature tag. :teeth: A cyber pal of mine made it for me. :goodvibes

Tom thinks I'm being ridiculous with wanting to express we are on our honeymoon everywhere but that's part of the honeymoon fun!

Spoke to him last night and he said if I can find an alternative way to wear a hat for him, he'll go for it. I think he'll go for Snacky's idea..he LOVES wearing baseball caps. :earsboy:

SunshineKathie...That would be awesome if you could get him to wear the ears. I didn't think of the baseball cap idea...but I still think my DH would have refused. Yes..you MUST tell everyone you are on your honeymoon. DH thought I was being silly too...until he realized how much free stuff we were getting. We were even in a store in Norway (I forget the name of it..) We had been smelling this WONDERFUL smell and followed it into this shop in Norway. The smell ended up being a perfume from Norway called "Laila". It's now the only perfume I wear. It's wonderful. While we were at the cash register paying for it the CM said "you guys just missed the maker of this perfume, Geir Ness (sp?) . He was here yesterday signing bottles of it. He went on to say that many famous people wore his perfume yadda yadda. I wasn't going to say anything about being on our Honeymoon b/c I was busy listening to his story...DH stepped up to the plate and said something about it being a special honeymoon gift. The CM stopped in his tracks and reach into a drawer by the cash register and pulled out a tiny velvet bag and handed it to me and said "Congratulations". Inside the bag was a small bottle of "Laila" autographed by Gier Ness!!! How cool!!

Have a great time!
