Day 2 Adventures in Epcot
Breakfast was at 7:50 at Chef Mickeys so we took the boat over to the Contemporary. There were a couple other people on the boat that we apparently headed to the MK for breakfast. Im not sure why they didnt take the bus and if our captain hadnt said something I think they wouldnt have waited forever for the MK boat to start running. We got there a little early and checked in, opting to skip the photo. This early there werent too many people waiting to get in however on the way out there were people waiting all over the place. While we were waiting Goofy came out and after a few kids cut in line in front of us we did get his autograph and some pictures. No sooner had we sat down again, our pager went off. DH really enjoys this place since there are so many things he can choose from to eat. I really like the hash browns (theyre similar to McDonalds). We go to see Mickey and Dale since we didnt want to wait for everyone to come around. Minnie had waved at us right before the celebration started so we figured she would come back as soon as the music was over but apparently we had missed our chance. No big deal to me I would have plenty of time to see the characters. During the celebration music, our server brought out a cupcake for us and announced to our room that we were on our honeymoon. Stuff like that is so cute
We then headed upstairs to catch the monorail to the TTC so we could head to Epcot. At the TTC we asked to sit up front for the ride to Epcot and they said it would be no problem. Well apparently since they can fit 4 people up front they will try and fill the front. Two kids were sat up there with us (probably around 10-12). They werent really that well behaved and seriously, why would you sit some kids with the honeymoon couple. We had our hats and pins on so it was quite obvious. Their constant chatter kind of spoiled the ride for us.
As usual there was a bit of a backup at the gates due to the bag check and people not understanding how to use the turnstiles. We got there soon after opening (we saw the character bus by Spaceship Earth on the monorail ride in) and headed straight for Soarin. We only stopped long enough to pick up the new pal mickey from the camera shop by Spaceship Earth. Im still not sure why we needed another one (other than the fact that we forgot to bring our old one) but since we had a giftcard from my mom we might as well use it. Im sure well bring him back in Feb. Since the Soarin line was only 20min and inside we figured wed wait and save a fast pass for something else. This ride was amazing! I really hope they film something for florida in the future b/c that would be really cool. I loved the smells and the breeze blowing. Next stop was Mission Space with only a 10min wait. I really loved the lines! Its such a cool feeling to be launched into space. We opted to skip test track since the standby line was over 30min and neither of us love it enough to get a fast pass. Before lunch we headed back to Spaceship Earth which also had a short line. I really hope they dont replace this ride its such a classic. We were bummed that Ice Station Cool was closed DH loves the watermelon soda. Hopefully they will still have it when it reopens next year.
We headed over to World Showcase with some time to spare before lunch. I had wanted to do Journey into Imagination but somehow that wasnt in the cards. We looked at all the food stands and I promised DH wed stop at the Poland stand for pierogi and kielbasa before the trip was over. We tried to watch American Adventure but if we had stayed we would have been late for lunch. Instead we continued walking to Germany (we started at the Canada side) to see if they had the wine we loved from last year. No such luck, nearby vineyard this time but I did try a glass of it and it was good but not good enough to buy some to bring back home. The total wine store nearby has something just as good. That means another year of keeping the bottle from my favorite wine and hoping theyll have it sometime again (weve looked everywhere for it, including the internet and couldnt find it). We took the Friendship from Germany to Mexico (is it really necessary to wait at the dock for 10min to see if anyone else wants to ride?) and walked back around to Rose and Crown for lunch. I know we could have just walked over but by then we felt the need to rest our feet.
We had no wait for a table at R&C and were promptly seated indoors. Our server Sarah was friendly enough and kept our drinks refilled but she wasnt as personable as some of our other servers this trip. I had potato and leek soup, cottage pie, and warm apple crumble with lemonade. DH had the cheese and fruit plate, fish & chips, and sticky toffee and orange soda. DH asked for coffee with dessert and Sarah told us it would cost us extra. We said we would pay for it anyway but when she brought the check she hadnt included it at all.
We must be getting old since we seemed to need a nap every afternoon. So off we went back to the front of the park to catch a bus back to WL. We went up to our room for a nice little nap (well DH did more napping than I did) and we discovered the Appliance Direct infomercial. That guy really cracks us up. A little later we went out to rent some Sea Raycers, since dinner wasnt until 8pm we had plenty of time to play. DHs boat ran out of gas in the no wake zone/canal between bay lake and 7 seas lagoon and nearly got hit by one of the smaller MK boats. Apparently the captain yelled at him until he realized DH had no gas and couldnt move his boat out of the way he did radio for lake patrol to come rescue DH. This was the first time I was on the water and didnt see a patrol boat in that no wake zone area b/w the two lakes. They towed DH back to the dock and gave him another boat to use. It was twice as slow as the first one so we decided to head in after only a half hour on the water. They only charged us for one boat which didnt matter to us since recreation was included in our package. DH had wanted to go swimming but I wanted to rest a little more then get ready for dinner.
We got to Le Cellier about 15 minutes early and were told our wait could be as much as an hour. After about 5 minutes we headed inside to see if any of the benches in there were empty since the few outside were full. At the same time as we headed inside, a hostess was heading out to call our name (not sure why they didnt buzz our pager). So much for that possible hour wait. Our server Elaine was great, very friendly and attentive. I had the beef and barley soup, prime rib, and smores, a soda and hot tea. DH had beef and barley soup, 7oz filet, sorbet and tea cooler and coffee. We had to wait a while for our dessert to be served but I think it was b/c we had ordered it right before Illuminations started and maybe the kitchen thought we had wanted to got watch it. Elaine didnt bring out any of our dishes, there were a few people who just brought out the food, but when she saw we were sitting there with no dessert we saw her talk to someone and our dessert was at our table a few minutes later. On our way out she handed us an envelope with a magical moments certificate inside. I didnt open it until we were outside and realized it had someone elses name on it. I think Elaine grabbed the wrong one! We didnt go back and say something since it was no big deal. It kind of makes a funny souvenir.
The wait for a bus was a long one. I had hoped dinner would have taken longer but even with a bit of a wait for dessert we still got out not long after Illuminations so there were lots of people waiting for a bus. The first bus loaded a wheelchair and quickly filled up but couldnt close its back door so we had to wait for a replacement bus for those people and then finally another bus for the rest of us. I did see plenty of POR and Old Key West busses go by
We were pooped when we got back and went straight to bed. We had another early morning in store.
